Will the sloppiness, political expediency, or hypocrisy of some candidates cost #Republicans hotly contested Congressional seats in key swing districts in November during #elections2024? I am quoted in Alexandria Jacobson's Raw Story article about the #GOP candidate Rob Bresnahan Jr. in PA who is following Vivek Ramaswamy's example in railing against #China at political rallies, while purchasing political merchandise from #China-linked companies. Bad optics aren't only a problem for their political future; they also send a #stratcom message to #China that US politicians are not serious about countering #China's hegemony. #elections #politics #Republicans #Democrats #humanrights #Humanrightsviolations #economy #freetrade #nationalsecurity #security #military #defense #trade #investments #informationwarfare #propaganda #disinformation #foreignpolicy #foreignaffairs #diplomacy #geopolitcs

Urgent Call for Action: Protecting Journalists in Gaza The Foreign Press Association in Denmark (FPA) is the organization for foreign journalists who work in Denmark for global media. We are deeply concerned by the high number of journalists who have been killed while serving in Gaza during the past 11 months. Never before have so many journalists been killed in an armed conflict. Over150 correspondents are reported killed in Gaza. World War II – the biggest war in history – resulted in the deaths of 63 journalists, and the same number of journalists died during the 20-year-long Vietnam war. https://lnkd.in/dP7AFUQS

DOH ATHAN | Freedom of expression is a fundamental right, but the military regime in Myanmar has repressed independent media, jailed journalists and cracked down on internet freedom. Despite the risks, many journalists are still determinedly working to bring accurate news to the people and document human rights abuses. In this story, we hear about one woman leading the way.

Escalation in the Middle East: The Role of Media in Promoting Peace Tensions are high following a recent attack between Iran and Israel. This highlights the critical role of media in promoting peace and de-escalation. Journalists must prioritize accurate reporting and avoid amplifying propaganda. International media can play a key role in facilitating dialogue and highlighting peace messages. Social media can be a powerful tool for peace advocacy, but we must counter misinformation. Everyone can contribute by sharing peaceful content and supporting peace initiatives. https://lnkd.in/dNwdrjUv #journalism #peacebuilding #middleeast

Part 3 of 3; My Words Intellectually I was at a wall concerning anti-racism. In similar fashion to the seeming conundrum concerning 'double consciousness', my logic was hooked on the linguistics and cultural fall out instead of the KNOWING that sits politely. Anti-oppression was the trap door in the ceiling to embrace the tiers of thinking. It was from direct experiences from the people I loved who were in a pain and anguish none of us had quite encountered to date. Often teased when I talk about the leadership we need on Earth right now. The power moves will come from our WOMEN. There resides a trope about most of us having never met a relaxed woman. One that feels safe and protected enough in 'a man's world' to be in her feminine frame. Looking upwards, many of our female leaders may be viewed as being in their masculine frame since it is the dominant reality we all 'compete' in. Time is long overdue for men to step back and elevate the ladies. I can go celibate for months to mansplain this but...The oppressed ALWAYS know their oppressors better than anyone else. The failed relationships that morph into failed diplomacy that morph into generational trauma...in 2024 the Knowledge is actually here with the tickets waiting to be punched. Ask a female friend what it is like at work when the testosterone gets spilled out and why we should be working well past that. 444 Nervous system dysregulation is a tool in the hands of those who mean us harm collectively. Be extremely mindful of the egregores that you feed into and from. Challenge your echo chambers from time to time. As I juggle with larger jars of jam at higher heights inside a clean tent, I venture this thought form. The next step of practicing gratitude is having reverence. May we go slowly into better futures built by structures that nourish our spirits. Technology that does not require slave labor or extraction policies that are equitable. Pipelines that hold clean water; not for-profit prisons lobbying for crime bills that destroy families. An entanglement of roles and accountability so the velcro that runs these games can adjust and flourish even in the face of degrowth. If you harvest me early, may 10 more arise from the portal beneath the Sphinx's left paw. I practice gratitude for the anvil of DEN to reward me with my throat chakra, my dragon heart, new imaginings, & a creative space to bring out the best from the humans I deeply care for. xo
📢 CPJ joins calls to UN to push for accountability in murder of #Lebanon video journalist Issam Abdallah, who was killed by Israeli forces in south Lebanon on October 13, 2023, and the killings of other journalists in the #Israel #Gaza war. In one letter, we are asking for UNESCO’s support in calling for an investigation and advocating for accountability in the apparent war crimes committed against journalists including Abdallah.

A bit self-aggrandizing, to be honest. The news making it out of Afghanistan is coming from the elites to the diaspora, only to be cross checked by more in the diaspora, and highlights *their* problems and/or talking points nearly exclusively. The same old guard Afghans - who abused the Afghan people ruined the country and allowed a path for the Taliban to take the country almost without resistance - are being propped up and their voices being amplified. Koofi and her ilk being feted around and held up as legitimate voices for the Afghan people indicates the lack of seriousness or perspective from the Afghan diaspora. People are already hedging their bets, trying to get close to the future money-controllers of the country, the Brand Name Afghans, who continue to raise enormous amounts of money “for the people” yet never seem to get around to sending those resources forward. “Holding the Taliban accountable” has become synonymous with “never holding GIROA’s grifters accountable” and for this reason, it’s efficacy is as questionable as its judgement. #Afghanistan #GIROA #Taliban #News #Journalism #Accountability #ButSelective #AndCharitable #Distraction #Misdirection #Efficacy #Judgement
