I am excited to share my most recent publication "Defining the Range of Calibration Burden: From Full Calibration to Calibration-Free" in the Journal of Pharmaceutical Innovation, written in collaboration with my colleague Sam Henson and my PhD advisors Carl Anderson and Jim Drennen. This is an Open Access article that is free to download and read at the following: https://lnkd.in/eueMZPxr This perspective article was written to support the development of reduced calibration chemometric techniques (including iterative optimization technology (IOT) algorithms) for process analytical technology (PAT) applications. Sam and I noticed the inconsistent application of terms such as "calibration-free" and "minimal calibration" within the chemometric literature. Within this publication, we propose harmonizing language around calibration burden toward enhancing communication between pharmaceutical manufacturers and the regulatory authorities regarding new chemometric methods that lower the costs associated with PAT applications. I'd imagine this is why it is important to partner with vendors who support your growth initiatives, understand your needs and are trusted by regulatory agencies. With this being said, Priyom Bose also highlights the immense benefits of Pharma 4.0 in this article. This includes improved product quality, accelerated time to market and real-time monitoring of assets. If a vendor doesn't understand the regulatory environment of your industry, digitization is daunting. But when they do... we see that engineers/techs are working more efficiently and managers are empowered with key metrics to make informed decisions.
