Tonight's the night!
I look forward to seeing all of you lovely OC Bikers, Skaters, BMXers, Scooters, Rollers and Bladers tonight at the Irvine Town Hall at
**6pm at Portola Spring Community Park!***
I'll be wearing a bright yellow Digit Bikes T-shirt if you want to find me.
I'm told that the city is quite commited to developing a multi-use facility as a starter kit for all-wheeled fun, and hopefully later developing more specialist features such as a BMX track, advanced skate features, etc...
They want our feedback on how to include everyone, and to see that there's community support for it!
Local bike leaders - I think your voices would be valuable. There might be opportunities for your organizations and our local community to benefit from this at little/no cost (The city is NOT looking for funding).
I've proposed that it would be great to have a bike share from the train station with lock/charge facilities around the park. Perhaps local commuters could use this too - imagine a bike shop with leased secure storage at the train station, where they could do maintenance and sales. Maybe an ebike demo facility? The city liked these ideas. Perhaps you could help orchestrate something like this, or inject better ideas at the meeting...
See y'all there.

ORIGINAL POST: OC and Irvine cyclists, come out on February 29th at 6pm @ Portola Springs Community Park to let City of Irvine know how badly we want this.
It looks like it might finally be happening, please come help push this down the home straight!
Logistics Manager at RECON LLC (Rowland Engineering Consultants)
Thanks to Glenn Steer and Clayton Steer for putting together this awesome highlight video from our trip on Denali last summer. And thanks to RECON LLC (Rowland Engineering Consultants) for giving me time off during the busy summer field season. The video really captures the essence of the trip, including the highs and lows. Spoiler alert - We didn't make it to the top of North America, but the trip was a success nonetheless. I got to spend an amazing 3 weeks with my boys in one of the most beautiful places in the world!

A powerful message and perspective. As a father to a young, talented daughter - closing the dream gap will be part of everything I do.

Happy for the kind words from Matthew Skelton 👇re: my curated, growing collection of 100+ examples of how to visualize business+technology evolution to enable better strategic choices - using Simon Wardley’s #WardleyMapping. #ArtOfStrategy
“Imagine a relay race where each runner on the team trained alone and then showed up hoping for smooth handoffs mid-race. Not only is that relay team unlikely to perform well, but each racer on the team is also likely to focus mostly on their own performance. Training and measuring independently implies a lack of visibility into what everyone else is doing and how all the contributions come together to deliver value. Runners may spend many hours perfecting their stride but fumble the handoff, which is an order of magnitude more impactful on the ultimate performance of the team.
“If we can only improve what we can see and we can only see a subset of the overall flow of work, all our effort could be wasted in comparison to addressing the weakest link in the chain of activities. If our visibility is limited to a subset of the work process, we will direct improvement efforts there. But if we fail to address the real constraint, our targeted improvements won’t matter at best and could make things worse.”

There are few approaches that are as powerful to bring together an organization towards a shared understanding and purpose.
From executives, to technical teams, to finance, to new employees #wardleymaps let everyone see how they fit into the effort of the organization to deliver value. They also let you see where investments could and need to be made with strategic purpose.
So is your solution at the top of the map? Is it leading the drive to the right? If not you, then who?
If you aren't the most visible source of value to your customers, which of your competitors is? How long do you think they'll wait before they cut you out of the stack?
If you're not planning to lead the move to the next tier of service, which of your competitors will?
