We’re often told to say yes to everything as we start our careers. We want to have as many opportunities to learn and add as much value as possible. The problem is that we keep saying yes and never learn to say no. When you keep saying yes, your plate fills up. Once your plate gets full, there’s no room to add anything to it. Even if something comes up that you’ve dreamed of, we often miss the opportunity because there’s no space on your plate. The goal isn’t to fill up your plate to the brim. The goal should be to leave a little room on your plate. Your plate is whatever you make of it - emotional bandwidth, mental capacity, physical space. Too often we wonder why we haven’t reached that goal or why things just aren’t clicking. Take a look at what’s on your plate. If it’s too full, then nothing can be added. Don’t forget to make space for those good things to happen. 🤔 Agree or disagree? Drop a line in the comments.

Agree, even though I have a tendency to be that person to say an enthusiastic yes to most things! It's about prioritizing and knowing your capacity and what will benefit the team, the client, the business, etc., as well as what will help you learn and improve. Always a balance.

Spot on! Learning to say no is crucial for maintaining mental bandwidth and fostering growth.
