Last week's Crowdstrike incident was one for the books for us at Truckstop. A lot of infrastructure changes and a little luck helped prevent a major outage for us. When I first joined, my team leader taught me to build cloud vms like cattle. This means when a vm goes unhealthy it is "slaughtered" and replace by automation. Many of our critical systems still hosted on windows are built this way. When the update hit they were replaced, keeping those systems available for our customers. When designing cloud infrastructure, I highly recommend start with that in mind for the design. This will help ensure your systems are robust and easier to maintain.
