I've gotten several people messaging me about my post yesterday about #MenForKamala. To be clear, I didn't organize the #MenForKamala event (Mark Linton gets credit for that and Mark Greene gets credit for telling me).
Unfortunately, in the end, I couldn't even attend because I had to take my daughters to a local production of SpongeBob Squarepants the Musical. (And yes, it was everything you would expect of 7-12 year olds dancing in costumes and acting like cartoon characters).
But, if you want to get involved or have questions, feel free to DM me, but the Marks will probably have more details!
I also just learned of a #DadsForKamala organizing call. Today at 1pm central (https://lnkd.in/gTkDaM6H), which I'm hoping to join for part of it.
I'm also hoping to get involved in other ways for 2 reasons...
1. It is my responsibility as an American citizen to be involved in politics. Thousands of people have died for our exercise/experiment in democracy. Thousands more died for their right to participate in this democracy. And while I may or may not vote for Kamala Harris, I need to be informed about what she stands for and what priorities she will bring to the office, should she win the election.
2. I'm a dad who wants my daughters (2 of them) to understand the importance of part 1. I want them to know they have to remain educated and aware of the power around them and how they can empower that power with their vote AND hold that power accountable for the actions that are taken. So, while Spongebob was a hilarious break in the current stresses of life, I was just as excited to have my daughters sit with me on the call last night.
So, regardless of your identity, politics, culture or worldview, please take a moment to inform yourself. Research all the candidates running for office, not just the Democratic and Republican nominees, and ensure that your vote is informed and counted.
