TikTok faces a pivotal moment as a US federal appeals court upholds a law that could lead to its ban or forced sale by early 2025, citing national security concerns over its ownership by ByteDance. With 170M US users, the platform plans to appeal to the Supreme Court. As Meta and other platforms prepare for potential market shifts, this development could reshape the digital landscape, impacting creators and small businesses relying on TikTok's reach. The TikTok ban has gone ahead for Americans and many are waking up today to this message. Firstly, as we’re outside the US we can still access their accounts and videos so they haven’t been taken down. Americans just can’t access TikTok so won’t be able to create more. Secondly, this seems like it’s not forever. Despite how much this pop up reeks of propaganda and political power play, the message gives hope to creators and viewers. My feed was around 85% American creators so my FYP certainly won’t be as entertaining. I also feel bad for the content creators who relied on TikTok as a revenue stream. However this shows the precarious situation of putting so much of your revenue generation into mediums that aren’t owned because you’ll always be at the mercy of platform changes, external decisions and worst case scenarios, legally enforced bans. #TikTok #RevenueGeneration #Marketing #SocialMedia

TikTok... on the clock! 🚨⏱️⌛ Friday's Supreme Court showdown has shifted my perspective on the reality of the TikTok ban. Next weekend could very well mark the end of TikTok in the U.S., at least in its current form. For creators and brands relying on 3rd party platforms, it’s a wake-up call: You’re renting your audience out, not building a real community. ⏳ Now’s the time to focus on owned-and-operated platforms. 📢 Take control of your content, data, and consumer relationships (with tools like Genuin, for example!) 💪 The future of content marketing depends on greater ownership.

The looming potential TikTok ban will undoubtedly impact creators and businesses who are heavily reliant on the traffic and exposure the platform drives, including small local businesses. A more diversified platform strategy can help reduce the risk of losing out when a platform changes its algorithms, gets shuts down, or falls out of favor. Aside from client work, I'm personally hoping it doesn't go through as I've found TikTok to be a great creative outlet! Thanks to Nicole Schuman for including my thoughts on the ban in this week's PRNEWS roundup. https://lnkd.in/g5EciHdM

What’s next for TikTok creators in the U.S.? TikTok is now offline in the U.S. from today Sunday 19 January, ahead of the official ban, leaving creators grappling with the sudden loss of a platform that is not just a creative outlet but also a significant source of income for many. The impacts are immediate and far-reaching — brands are pausing campaigns, creators are searching for alternative platforms, and entire communities built on TikTok are now in limbo. The big question: If TikTok returns after Trump’s inauguration on Monday, will it be business as usual, or are we heading into a "new normal"? With Trump’s administration shaping policies around digital platforms differently, creators and businesses relying on TikTok will need to adapt to new rules and realities, from content moderation to how data is managed. In the meantime, it’s a stark reminder of the vulnerability of creators dependent on a single platform. Diversification and resilience in the creator economy are more critical than ever. What are your thoughts? What alternatives to TikTok are there? How should creators and businesses pivot in situations like this? #TikTok #creatoreconomy #Trump https://lnkd.in/ex4zf79w
