The best sales advice I got was treat a prospect like someone you are asking out on a date. How off putting would it be if you kept talking about how cool and smart you were! The best way to land a date is by making the other person feel special and making them anticipate how much fun the date would be. This quote is 100% spot on. I use the analogy of treating sales meetings like a doctor's visit throughout my book because you need to diagnose before you can prescribe. First, identify what a typical patient looks like that can be helped by your solution (ICP). Then, ask about the symptoms to confirm, but to make a change, they need to require surgery, not band-aid. The good news is chances are they're like me, where they're not making a doctor's appointment (sales meeting) unless their foot is hanging off. Great episode as always Mark Hunter!! Salespeople often focus too much on booking meetings rather than having genuine conversations. Just because you don’t book a meeting doesn’t mean it’s over. Treat it like a casual chat, as you would in a pub. Once you understand this concept, your pipeline will keep growing. And remember, don’t rule out anyone.
