It would be difficult to celebrate our 70th anniversary without recognizing the single most important transformation in Gateway's history - our strategic decision to become a Project Focused Organization (PFO). The Project Focused Organization is an organizational philosophy and structure in which individual projects are the focal element, where everyone and everything in the organization is focused on the selling and executing of projects. The term PFO was first introduced to our President Emeritus, Daniel S. Deiseroth, P.E., when attending a seminar on the philosophy. It was there that Dan met Bob Maxman, an industry professional providing management consultant and support services to architectural, engineering and construction firms. With Bob's guidance, Gateway adopted the PFO structure and hired Mike Zavoina in 1998 as its CEO. The transformation from a traditional, department-based organization to a project focused organization ensured that client projects were always the main focal point of the business. Today, Gateway's practice as a PFO continues to fuel our growth and operational excellence and is one of our core brand pillars: People, Projects, and Purpose. #GatewayEngineers #PeopleProjectsAndPurpose #CivilEngineering #70Years

Something you learned each time you run into a new project. As I am unable to give you what we are looking for, but it surely is interesting. Defense contract today asking you to find more professionals to work with, you would never think of those professionals, just like when we saw CHS ..something we looked during the project. Just attending NPS meeting today, there are many projects are coming out pretty soon. I hope small businesses out there, think about how to get the winning team together that is not about you but the team. Your team has to win so you can have the project. For all the top ENR AE or GC out there, think of these small businesses not only bring you profits but also bring your future relationship. Because you have funding and personnel so if you could be kindly to mentor them. Everyone wins. Government especially with defense as they like to have everyone to work together regardless small or large as long as we can get the job done. Be a team player when you are offering a chance. Wish everyone win your next contract. #teaming

We are moving from BPN to Business Plane Group and in our transformation plan, there are two fundamental concepts to understand and analyze: transformation and conservation. We want to transform and improve many things but we want to maintain the motto “work hard and and play hard.”🥳🍾 #bpgsummersummit #teambuilding #timecritical #obc

I help industrial leaders deliver successful projects and eliminate or minimize painful delays and budget overruns.
In capital projects, leaders who embed safety and sustainability from the design phase not only mitigate risks but create lasting value.

Our values underpin our working ethos including how we treat each other and our clients at OCG. Working together, delivering frontline projects for our public sector is what “projects in partnership” means to our staff. Well done to all gbr staff for coming up with such an important set of values that mean so much to us all. #projectmanagement
The OCG staff came together last year to produce 5 key values that they feel the company should base itself around, to create a working environment that is efficient and delivers the best possible outcomes. These values provide a framework in which we operate and we are proud that they are part of our ethos. #projectmanagement #companyvalues #projectsinpartnerahip

How much do you know about Development Corporations and how they can drive delivery? A huge thank you to my panel of experts Ian Piper Jennifer Hunt David Lunts for sharing their experience at Avison Young’s Development Corporation Insight session at UKREiiF. With excellent additional contributions from those in the room, my three main takeaways & conclusion were: 1) ONE SIZE DOES NOT FIT ALL: Development Corporations come in many varieties. That variation extends to both the type of DC (e.g Mayoral, Locally Led, New Town or Statutory) and their powers & accountability. 2) DCs ARE DESIGNED TO DELIVER PLACES: providing focus & skills, x boundary working and resources (e.g. land and flexible funding) 3) EXPEREINCE COUNTS: our speakers and participants shared lessons learned and war stories, illustrating the complexities of getting things right first time. It highlighted the immense value of seeking out experience and applying it to local circumstances. CONCLUSION DCs are not a silver bullet (and other delivery mechanisms are available!). To support those considering, setting up or running a DC we must get better at capturing and sharing the lessons and experience already out there. Thanks to all who joined & lets keep the conversation going… Ebbsfleet Development Corporation Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC) Avison Young │UK #peopleforplace #developmentcorporations #delivery

Maximising Value in Capital Planning Account Executive (ex Country Manager ANZ) Copperleaf Technologies
Great content at the SDP Australasian Chapter event looking at Decision Analytics and Quality today. So great to hear alignment with our Copperleaf approach. Some gold nuggets: -Decision Analysis is a conversation to bring about clarity of action -When making a decision there is likely to be more than one value measure that applies (in fact Copperleaf we think the entire strategy should inform a value framework so an organisation can achieve the company vision) -Decisions are iterative - its all about gaining the insights And finally, mic drop... - "information only has value if it has potential to change a decision'. Lets stop collecting data that we cannot use to inform our decisions and delay real progress. Thanks Boudewijn Neijens for pointing me to SDP and also great to see a good turn out from Catalyze APAC. Always nice to meet peers with a common interest.
