Rwanda and Kenya have signed a protocol to ensure smooth transport in their respective regions. New infrastructure investments on new transport are planned in the region. The most important thing here is who will finance these infrastructure projects. ■ But we can definitely look forward to a Sino-Russian struggle. #Sarenolia #Colonialism #ConstructionPolicies #GlobalConstructionPolicies

CORPORATE + FINANCE LAWYER | M&A | PROJECTS | CAPITAL MARKETS | PRIVATE EQUITY | SUSTAINABILITY| RESTRUCTURING
A recent report on The State of Africa’s Infrastructure 2024, published by the Africa Finance Corporation, reveals that the African ‘ports race’ that started in the mid-2000s has resulted in significant capacity additions at African ports. However, this expansion has not translated into more efficient and integrated logistics supply-chains across the continent. It further states that while ports are monopolising private sector interest, the rest of the value-chain, notably roads and railways, remains under-funded, under-developed and fragmented. This proposal by China Civil to spend more than $1 billion to revitalize the Tanzania Zambia Railway Kine and operate it commercially will certainly help bridge the infrastructure gap. Transport ministers from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and the DRC convened to accelerate the completion of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) from Naivasha, Kenya, to neighboring countries. Their meeting in Mombasa focused on developing a roadmap for the SGR's swift implementation and joint mobilization of resources for its extension across borders. The ministers affirmed their commitment to enhancing regional connectivity by extending the SGR to Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan, and the DRC. They discussed the possibility of Rwanda joining the existing working framework between Uganda and the contractor Yapi Merkezi to update the feasibility study for the Mirama Hills-Kigali section. This collaboration aims to ensure harmonization of specifications and streamline project execution. Furthermore, the meeting aimed to harmonize planning and development of inland water transport infrastructure, facilitating seamless multimodal transport services. They emphasized the importance of reviewing the Tripartite Agreement on water transport on Lake Victoria to enhance connectivity and trade within the region. Kenya and Uganda committed to advancing the construction of the Naivasha-Kisumu-Malaba line and fulfilling their respective obligations to meet project deadlines. The ministers also resolved to establish a framework for cross-border maintenance of SGR assets and facilities, promoting sustainable infrastructure development and regional integration. #SGR #TransportInfrastructure #InfrastructureDevelopment #RegionalIntegration #InlandWaterTransport #MultimodalTransport #RegionalConnectivity #InfrastructureDevelopment #hakunamatatamedia

Interesting, make sure you watch the video as well. What is not really further investigated is the failure of China's initiative. I assume that it is due to some fundament cooperation aspect having been ignored, communication being one of them. #communicationsstrategy #zambia #africa #angola #developmentcooperation
