Imagine the possibilities! Cognitive revolution 50 thousand years ago (the invention of language for conflict resolution and knowledge transmission resulted in tool-making and trade). Agricultural revolution 12 thousand years ago (dawn of agriculture meant civilisation, cities, population growth, division of labor from surplus). Industrial revolution 200-250 years ago (harnessing energy to escape the malthusian trap and attain exponential population growth and expnential increase in wealth at the same time, creating more intelligent minds with leisure time to focus on complex problems) Digital revolution 70 years ago (computers have transformed the way we do everything from science to manufacturing and socialising leading to the society we live in now, where we come to expect a scientific breakthrough, technology invention or innovation every day when we wake up and open our phone, whereas most of our ancestors didn’t see an innovation in their lifetime) Whether we view the AI revolution as an extension of the digital revolution or a next step, we cannot imagine the possibilities it will bring in our lifetime, even less in the lifetime of our children. For us it represents just that, possibility.
