VML just released their 'Future 100: 2024' report, and it's a must-read for anyone looking to stay ahead of the curve. It provides valuable insights into the trends that will shape our future. As someone in the creative industry, I'm excited to see how these trends will influence our work and help us create meaningful experiences for clients and audiences. One trend that particularly stood out to me is the intentional slowdown, where people opt for a mindful approach to life. At a time when people believe stress, depression, and pollution are the top three challenges for human health, the pursuit of a better quality of life begins with a great deceleration. Brands are also measuring emotional value and investing in experiences that engage a wide spectrum of emotions. This year will dial up on feelings. People want surprise, mystery, awe, and wonder in their lives, making new experiences that engage a wide spectrum of emotions in demand, from ‘Emotioneering’. Other interesting brand & marketing trends include: -OOH reimagined (Out-of-home) advertising taking a reality-bending turn. -Brands injecting dopamine into packaging to deliver an emotional uplift. -Brand jesters - The return of humor that can differentiate and engage, while offering some much-needed uplift for consumers still laboring through tough times. -Plus, this year's Pantone's 2024 Color of the Year: Peach Fuzz totally embraces the trends. And on a more personal note, I am absolutely thrilled about the Mexican artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer being mentioned in the technology scene!
