Our recent #research on "Just Sustainability from the Heart of Communities" identified six different roles socio-cultural centres can play in fostering Just Sustainability Transitions (JST). 🎴Role C, the #Innovator, creates experimental "playgrounds" for the iterative testing of innovative ideas that could lead to systemic changes. They act as incubators for new #practices, drawing on the tradition of #actionresearch, where reflection and action are combined to address complex problems. We are thrilled to announce that Team Dam-Verse from JK Lakshmipat University has been named one of the winners of the prestigious Circular Enterprise Programme 2024, organized by Circular Cities Asia in collaboration with the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (Regional Project Energy and Climate Change Asia Pacific). Out of countless teams across the Asia-Pacific region, only three were selected for this prestigious opportunity, and we are proud to say that Dam-Verse is one of them. Even more notably, Dam-Verse is the only team from India to earn this distinction! Our winning team, Dam-Verse, comprises: - Vaibhav Chauhan – Technical Lead - Shubham Jain – Outreach & Engagement Coordinator - Shrashti Chouhan – Research Coordinator The team will now enter a three-month incubation period, receiving mentorship, resources, and 2,500 NZD in seed funding to develop prototypes of their innovative solution. This achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and innovative spirit of our students. Dam-Verse extends their heartfelt gratitude to their faculty mentors—Prof. Dheeraj Sanghi, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Devika Kataria, and Prof. Riya Surekha—for their invaluable guidance and support. The Circular Enterprise Programme provides young innovators with a platform to collaborate and create solutions to some of the region’s most pressing waste challenges. This year’s theme focused on using circular economy innovation to enhance the health and enjoyment of public spaces. Through the Circular Enterprise Programme, Circular Cities Asia is driving a movement to redesign linear economic models and inspiring young innovators to develop sustainable, circular solutions that address waste issues in their communities, accelerating the transition to a circular economy. #jklu #economy #circulareconomy #innovation #explorepage #explore #technology #research #asia #winner #achievement #sustainability #sustainableeconomy #unsdgs #un #opportunity

In our bustling metropolises, [social] innovation is key to sustainable development. By leveraging technology and community-driven solutions, we can address urban challenges like housing, transportation, and energy use. From co-housing projects and shared mobility services to urban farming and age-friendly city initiatives, these innovations foster inclusivity, reduce environmental impact, and enhance quality of life. Let's not forget that getting the human and organizational aspects of innovations right is key to achieving development impact. Merely pouring more high-tech (and these days, more AI) into urban solutions is not likely to have a lasting social impact. 🌍 Public-private interactions are the driving force behind innovation; understanding each other's challenges and needs is the key to unlocking progress. As I mentioned during my intervention during the last 22@ breakfasts 💡 “When you manage to gather in the same space people from different companies, different sectors and industries, and you talk about a single topic, like mobility, you are already starting a discussion about how we can all collaborate and drive the sustainability agenda forward.” This was one of the highlights shared during the edition hosted at SEAT CODE, where we discussed some of the current and future challenges of mobility. It was refreshing to attend this session, interact with the local mobility ecosystem, and make our small contribution when putting the topic on the table. Let’s keep driving innovation forward! 🔋✨ #UrbanMobility #Ecosystem #Innovation #Collaborate EIT Urban Mobility 22@Network Barcelona
