Last week, we partnered with HandsOn Bay Area, a fantastic platform that connects volunteers with local causes, to volunteer at the Homeless Prenatal Program pantry, an organization working to support expecting mothers and their children experiencing homelessness. It was a humbling experience to witness the incredible work done by the Homeless Prenatal Program and the impact they have on families in need as we organized and distributed food supplies. A huge thank you to HandsOn Bay Area and the Homeless Prenatal Program for allowing us to be a part of this important mission. We are proud to contribute to the well-being of our community and look forward to continuing to support this amazing organization. We'll be returning to volunteer again on June 28th! If you're interested in joining us and giving back to this important cause, send us a note! 🏠 Homeless Support Initiative in Kenilworth - Let's Make a Difference! 🤝 As the chilly winds of winter approach, it's a poignant reminder that not everyone in our community has a warm and safe place to call home. At Kare Plus Kenilworth, we are committed to making a positive impact and helping those in need. We are currently running a Homeless Support Initiative to assist the homeless population in Kenilworth. The statistics on homelessness are a stark reminder of the challenges faced by many: 📌 In 2020, the estimated number of homeless individuals in the UK reached over 268,000. 📌 On any given night, thousands of people sleep rough, facing extreme conditions and uncertainty. We believe that small acts of kindness can create a ripple of change. To make a real difference, we are collecting donations of essential items that can significantly improve the lives of those experiencing homelessness. Here's a list of beneficial items you can contribute: 🧣 Warm Clothing (coats, scarves, gloves, and hats) 🛏️ Sleeping Bags and Blankets 🧼 Personal Hygiene Products 🥖 Non-Perishable Food Items 🚰 Bottled Water 🦷 Dental Care Products 🧴 Hand Sanitizer 🪥 Toiletries 🎨 Notebooks and Pens (for personal records) 🔦 Flashlights 💊 Over-the-Counter Medications 🧩 Puzzle Books and Playing Cards (for passing the time) Your support can help provide comfort and dignity to those in need during the colder months. Every contribution, no matter how small, has the potential to make a significant impact on someone's life. Please join us in this initiative to help our homeless neighbors in Kenilworth. If you have items to donate or would like to get involved, please don't hesitate to reach out. Let's come together as a community and make a positive change for those who need it most. Remember, it's the collective efforts of caring individuals that can truly make a difference. Thank you for being a part of this initiative and for helping us support the homeless in our community. #HomelessSupport #CommunityCare #MakeADifference #Kenilworth #HomelessnessAwareness

To raise awareness for the homeless community, on Friday 15th of March myself and many others from Metro Bank Basingstoke will be taking part in the Big Basingstoke Sleepout 2024. We will be spending the night on a local field with many other businesses and individuals without tents and in the elements. We are asking for our connections to spread the word and for any donations, no matter how small, to contribute to the cause. Below is a link to our team page and any support would be greatly appreciated. Please see below a list of how different amounts raised can make an impact. • £5 could buy 3 pairs of new socks for a rough sleeper • £10 could buy a mobile phone top-up card for a vulnerable rough sleeper • £15 could pay for a replacement birth certificate for someone without any form of ID, which can create huge obstacles accessing benefits and services and access to move-on accommodation. • £50 could provide 3 wholesome meals in one day for 20 service users staying at the emergency hostel If you reach, or exceed your target, this is how your fundraising could help • £150 - could buy a basic move-in pack of food, toiletries, bedding and cleaning products to help a former rough sleeper move in to supported accommodation. • £250 Starter pack to help an abused parent and children move into new accommodation Escaping domestic abuse often means a hurried departure from the family home. When a parent and her children arrive at our refuges, they may have very little. A starter pack will make a huge difference – some food and provisions, a few new toys, toiletry items, basic kitchen items, cleaning materials and children’s clothes. • £500 could pay for one new Tenancy Starter Packs containing essential household items (e.g., towels, bedding, crockery, pots and pans) to support someone into move-on accommodation • £700 could pay for one woman with experience of domestic abuse to access a 12-week educative group programme where they can learn about the dynamics of abuse and the impact it has on themselves and their children. 🌙 https://lnkd.in/eNt9RPke

Muiembe Youth Focus (MUYOFO) on advocacy for street children: A Hand to Hold: Giving Hope to Homeless Children They walk our streets with no place to call home, their small hands clutching worn bags, their eyes gazing nowhere. They are the overlooked remnants of hard times—the children of homelessness (CHOKORA). A daily meal is uncertain for them, and a soft bed is a distant dream. But we can offer these innocent victims of circumstance the most valuable gift of all: our compassion. Even a small act of kindness can make a world of difference in a homeless child's day. We need support to start a children's home to spark their imagination. The simple gift of our time and presence can lift their spirits and remind them that not all adults are uncaring. With schools and friends often left behind, they need positive interactions to counteract the rejection they face. Of course, more systemic changes are needed to give these children the futures they deserve truly. But on an individual level, we can be the one friendly face among the anonymous crowds, the one who stops to listen and affirm their dignity. We can donate old jackets, blankets, and toys to local shelters and advocate for more affordable housing in our cities. No effort is too small when a young life is at stake. Homeless children are not defined by their circumstances. They have talents to offer, dreams to achieve, and so much potential waiting to emerge. By opening our hearts, we can help unlock the bright futures they deserve. All it takes is a gentle hand - and the willingness to care.

🏠🤝 **Extend a Hand to the Homeless: Making a Difference, One Act of Kindness at a Time** 🌟💖 🌈♥️🌟 In the hustle and bustle of daily life, it's easy to overlook those who have fallen on hard times – the homeless individuals who roam the streets with nowhere to call home. Whether through volunteering at shelters, donating clothing and supplies, or simply showing compassion and empathy towards our homeless neighbors, we can all play a part in making our communities more inclusive and caring. 🌈♥️🌟 Together, let's create a world where no one is left behind, where every person – regardless of their circumstances – is valued, respected, and supported. Let's be the change we wish to see in the world, one act of kindness at a time. 🌟🤝 #HelpTheHomeless #KindnessMatters #MakeADifference #CommunitySupport #TogetherWeCan

National Homeless Persons’ Remembrance Day is a day to remember the lives of those who have died while experiencing homelessness and might otherwise be forgotten. Studies show the death toll of our US homeless population has increased significantly over the past 5-10 years. Our Servant’s House emergency shelter can house 70 individuals. Unfortunately, at a given time, there are hundreds of thousands of homeless individuals, 40% of which are families, in our country. These folks are therefore at a higher risk of death through a combination of factors including different forms of abuse, food insecurity, lack of shelter, and poor healthcare. Today, let’s honor those who are facing the hardship of homelessness and those who have passed from its effects. May we take the time to be a part of the solution by working at our local level to make an impact. Should you wish to be part of a Memorial event and show your solidarity, there are in-person and virtual vigils held nationwide. For the local community, BetterLife is hosting a Memorial on December 21st between the hours of 11am-2pm at 101 14th Avenue, Newark. If you are interested in hosting your own event, check out this helpful manual: https://lnkd.in/eBfPtDp4 [Source: https://lnkd.in/g94F3ST9] #HomelessPersons'RemembranceDay #endhomelessness #communityservice #essexcounty #nonprofit #homelessshelter

Helping the homeless Supporting people in need during the Christmas period This winter, over 131,000 children will spend Christmas without a place to call home. Lily, a mum of two from Bristol, knows only too well how that feels. A qualified nurse, she and her family were served a Section 21 ‘no fault’ eviction, and given just two months to find a new home after their landlord decided to sell. Unable to find a property to rent, she and her children spent months being moved from one B&B to another. None of them had a kitchen in which Lily could cook for her family, and many were miles from the children’s schools. This is not a home, but it’s the reality for thousands of families in emergency temporary accommodation. Shelter research has found that being placed in temporary accommodation (TA) disrupts every aspect of family life, with 47% of families with school-aged children being forced to move schools as a result of living in TA. To find out more about how you can help, turn to page 18 of the latest Winter edition. #educationchoicesmagazine #educationcornerpodcast #educationmatters #helpingthehomeless #awareness #support #donate #heplingothers #homelessnessawareness #diversity #inclusion

Hey everyone, did you know that today is National Homeless Persons' Remembrance Day? It's a day to remember and honor those who have experienced homelessness and sadly lost their lives. As someone who is passionate about social causes, this day holds a special place in my heart. Homelessness is a complex issue that affects millions of people worldwide. It's not just about not having a place to sleep, it's about the lack of access to basic necessities and resources. It's about struggling to have a sense of belonging and stability. On this day, let's take a moment to reflect on our own privilege and the importance of empathy and compassion towards those who are experiencing homelessness. It's not just about providing temporary solutions, but also advocating for long-term solutions and addressing the root causes. I encourage you all to get involved in any way you can, whether it's volunteering at a local shelter, donating to organizations that support the homeless community, or simply spreading awareness on social media. Let's come together and make a positive impact in the lives of those who are less fortunate. #NationalHomelessPersonsRemembranceDay #EndHomelessness #SocialResponsibility #Empathy #Compassion #brainwavemedia #positiveimpact #socialmedia
