This is something that more hiring managers/ recruiters should think about. I have been searching for a new role for a couple of months now and have been ghosted by several hiring managers after going through 2 or 3 interviews. Most of them had said that I should hear back either way, but there are a few that I never received any follow-up from. It's stressful and frustrating to dedicate time to 2-3 rounds of interviews, completing writing assignments/ writing samples, etc, only to never receive any follow-up email to let me know that they would not be moving forward with me. The least they can do is let me know. Do better. Don't ghost people. If you can, give feedback on why you chose not to move forward with a candidate who has invested so much time and energy into pursuing a position.

During our initial conversation, I always make sure to share crucial information with every candidate I speak to: "I want to start by discussing the compensation for this position..." "You'll be working closely with "ABC Hiring Manager", who is leading this team..." "Let me walk you through the interview process so you know what to expect..." "You can expect to hear back from me by [specific timeframe]..." "I assure you, I won't disappear on you unexpectedly." In my experience, being transparent throughout the recruiting process significantly enhances the candidate experience.
