Total Factor Productivity drives growth in agricultural output. My translation: Increases in productivity are driving increases in total production, at a level more than three times larger than the impact of increasing inputs. Labor inputs are decreasing subtantially, which capital use is almost the same/marginally decreasing. Yet another nice chart of note from USDA Economic Research Service that merits some study (staring at).

The Agri-business community (including all its related indices) often reflects common day to day human politics and behavior. The notion of GNU being anchored by key players from historically different ideological viewpoints, will only be seen to be believed by the corresponding constituencies. Economics was the overarching theme in my Contemporary Business course this week, with inflation being a key player. Inflation has its hand in everything. For agriculture, Kofi Britwum - Assistant Professor of Farm Management at the University of Delaware - writes that inflation has increased the cost of "seeds, feed, fertilizer, fuel, utilities, equipment repair, and more" (2024). This affects both farmers and shoppers, as prices are both absorbed and passed.
