Do Read: https://lnkd.in/e4BiJn79 = = = A Page From History, circa 1950, as #India seeks a permanent #UNSC Seat. Indian people are very sweet & easy to be taken for a ride & the world knows it. The British seem to have shared their learned wisdom with their friends. To prove my point here is a very significant early example. Historical documents show that Jawaharlal Nehru in his idealism rejected American & later Russian offers & conceded India’s right to a permanent UNSC seat to reduce international tensions in the early days of the Cold War & wanted to integrate China into the international community as a central pillar of his foreign policy. It is said that Nehru did not want to disrupt the dynamics of the UN due to the reverence he had for the international organization, despite its flaws. Plus he wanted India to be recognised as a great country & adopted an independent stand & refused to compromise its core principles to gain such recognition by joining camps either American or Russian. We can play the “we are independent or we are not independent” game & the reality is somewhere in between & we are struggling to get a solid foothold as an independent fourth pillar of the world after the US, China & Russia due to our sweetness, historic baggage & our “deep rooted” connections & fascination with all things American and due to our dependence on Russia & US for our critical defence & technology needs. We need a vision & a strategy to develop hard & soft power and build our economy through leadership in innovation, technology & manufacturing, which will give us the economic clout & leverage to pursue an independent foreign policy. In light of this history when I read about #China grabbing large swathes of Indian land on the border & is not supportive of India obtaining a permanent UNSC seat, I wonder has China forgotten history & has joined larger forces to ensure India does not achieve real prosperity & bring back its glory days of yore? While discussions often revolve around our relations with the US, Russia & China, we should also focus more on the quiet & invisible operator Great Britain. One should never under estimate the role of intellectuals, their world view, thought & influence in shaping things. == West brands all inconvenient facts as Kremlin propaganda The #Russian President has commented on the balance between the freedom of the press & national security Do Read https://lnkd.in/ez_Nvgyg https://lnkd.in/eFnd8QVM #Turkiye seeks order in a disorderly region Do Read: https://lnkd.in/eJKCw7gc

BRICS' powerful way to demonstrate the failure of US-led efforts to isolate Russia/China over Ukraine & other proxy wars around the world (34 applied or interested, incl. Turkiye-applied & Serbia, dis-trusting the EU alliances; 36 countries attending & >20 represented by heads of state ;) Malaysia & Azerbaijan also applied. Singapore refused. BRICS is fast growing from 30-50% GDP PPP (that matters) & will include 46-60% population/consumers. G7's population is <9.7% & falling. When Africa starts joining the balance will shift drastically with new multipolar world Cooperation - not order by the West. Australia would be wiser to join the Asian century (100+ years ;)
