Can a regimental war cry of the Indian Army be used in a commercial venture, albeit with a spelling change? The startup “Tagda Raho” which is on a commendable mission to introduce indigenous “akhara” (traditional Indian gymnasium) weights eg the mace, samtola etc, to the world, uses the war cry of the Assam Regiment “Tagra Raho” as its brand name, with a minor alteration of spelling. What next? An “Ayo Gorkhali” range of generators or UPS, or steel? Question to the Indian Army. Can this be done Sirs? If yes, where does one draw the line using Copyright, or Trademark, or Intellectual Property laws? https://tagdaraho.in/ #military #indianarmy #defence #veterans #india #culture #storytelling #defense #ethics

Raksha Changappa BSc Dietetics. MSc Nutrition. MBA Mkt - I agree with the sentiments behind the post but in my humble opinion these war cries are not official trademarks- however it does feel bad when such sacred war cries are used for commercial ventures. Soldiers have sacrificed their lives shouting their respective regimental war cries in the face of enemy action and any attempt to use them to make money is nothing short of shameful. My two bit ! Jai Hind!
