Africa makes up just over 17% of the global population but only about 2% of worldwide travel. What’s even more surprising is that there are 400+ airlines between the 54 countries. Something isn’t adding up. The potential for African aviation is HUGE and is being acknowledged by other carriers, but we’ve been asking experts why the industry hasn’t taken off as it should and what needs to change for the region to take full advantage. Tune into our monthly #AfricaAmplified ✈️ https://lnkd.in/dXy8VveY

Nigeria’s Air Peace to Commence London Route Operations in March

If you've tried inter-African air travel, you'll know that it can be prohibitive in every sense of the word. A lack of infrastructure, connectivity, regulatory enforcement and support all play their role. It's often only logistically/financially feasible to fly from one country to another through a European conduit. This not only presents an impediment to economic development, but also helps reinforce the concept of African dependence on the West. This month in Bloomberg's Africa Amplified, we dive (fly?) into the world of African aviation and the prospects for developments in the sector. You'll hear from some of the industry's leaders as they meet for the latest International Air Transport Association (IATA) gathering in Johannesburg. They talk challenges and opportunities. You also get to hear from two of the continent's most important central bankers out of #Nigeria and #South Africa. We also go to #Nairobi for the latest on the unrest there. https://lnkd.in/e4f62yQc

AIR PEACE has truly excelled, especially considering the longstanding presence of other airlines on the Lagos-London route. It's high time Nigerians rally behind their own. Supporting national carriers is crucial, as seen in the growth of other nations. Governments must also play a role in encouraging patronage of local businesses. Just look at the success stories of Ethiopian, Kenyan, and Turkish Airlines—they thrive on patriotic support. By backing Air Peace, Nigerians can help prevent exploitation on this route and ensure the airline's enduring success. Consider the culinary aspect—have you ever traveled with picky-eating children? Many airlines lack sensitivity, serving unfamiliar dishes even to adults. Air Peace is here to stay, but its success hinges on Nigerians' support. Let's prioritize #flyairpeace for a better travel experience for All.

All of a sudden, other airlines are underpricing, and the plan is to take Air Peace out. If they succeed, Nigerians will pay 20 times over. ~ Allen Onyema (Air peace CEO) Competition has everything good with it. The bottom benefactor is the customer as far as the competition is healthy. We expect this to happiness other sector of industries in the economy. Now if anybody is afraid of been faced out of completion, then firstly that person has not done due diligence before undertaking such venture, secondly, you are after same customer, so what's their offer outside price that on the customer face. It is already too long Nigerians have been shortchanged in airfare. Our African brothers use to wonder why we pay more being that we have more air traffic over the years. So the story that they want too kill one for the others to flourish will not fly. Understand the current situation, apply your best value to customers.
