A beautiful, lasting impression. Debossing is essentially the opposite of embossing. Whereas embossing creates a raised effect, with debossing the metal die is pressed into the material to create a recessed impression. This can create a lovely finish on hardback (case) book covers which normally consist of paper, cloth, leather or other material wrapped over a 2-3mm thick board. This often allows for a deep, clear debossed impression. Sometimes a clear foil can also be used to further enhance or sharpen the deboss, as shown here on the beautiful brochure for The Helmsley Building. (🎧 if you want) (Read below) Taking logos and marks off of drum heads. . . . This is not an original idea and plenty of drummers have done this in the past including my buddy Drums for Sale. I’m sure the question now comes up of, “Nate, why would I ever want to take a logo off of a drum head?” Just like the Mr.Clean eraser trick, this is just an aesthetic drum hack. This hack comes into play when you are either trying to take another brands name off of a drum head you’re using on a flip/maintenance job or you need to remove marks off of your current drum head. That’s pretty much it. Just make sure to apply gently with cotton pad and wipe off with a clean cloth. Just another tool to lock in the tool box until the time is right! How to use Goof off: “It effectively removes the toughest dried latex paint, adhesives, asphalt, and tar. Dried latex paint, caulk, stickers, decals, glue, tar, road grime, bugs and tree sap this super strength remover can do it all.
