The race to the South Pole. Chapter 5: Scott's Struggles. November 1911.Scott is in trouble. -We're moving very slowly, Scott. Half the speed we planned. -What's wrong, Luis? -The ponies are sinking up to their bellies, making it hard for them to move. And with half their bodies buried in the snow, their sweat is freezing. They're dying, and in a few days, they'll all be dead. Plus, the motors aren't designed for this dry cold. They've been breaking down every day. And now they're completely broken. It looks bad. We should turn back. Amundsen did it a few months ago, and nothing happened. Maybe it's not our time yet. -No way, Luis. We have to get there before Amundsen. Forward! -And what do we do with the two motor sleds? -We abandon them! We'll pull the sleds ourselves. -That's going to slow us down even more, Scott. It'll take us twice as long to get there, and we're already behind schedule. We don't have enough food for that many days! At least we could eat the ponies that just died. -That's not how gentlemen behave. We're not animals! We'll leave the ponies here. In the end, Scott will have to face reality. Halfway through the journey, he'll send part of the team back. Only five people will make the final push. A few weeks ago, we introduced our latest addition to the Canny lineup: Charlie the Cavalier X, our newest Canny Challenger. It's important to note that even small dogs like Charlie can inadvertently harm themselves by pulling on a lead too forcefully. Lucy, Charlie's mum, had tried harnesses to help train Charlie but had found them more of a hindrance. It's been over two weeks now since Charlie was introduced to his Canny Collar and we're overjoyed to see him make such good progress. We never tell our challengers to expect a quick fix, training takes time and commitment. The Canny Collar is a tool to help them achieve these results themselves.
