Thanks to the City of Covington, Georgia, our manager for Retail Commercial Development, Daniel, had the opportunity to speak about retail development and opportunities along the corridor at Elevate Highway 278 CID Board today.
“There are several retailers who need sites along this corridor,” said Daniel Martin, CLS. “This presents an excellent opportunity to redevelop and improve the character of several key gateways to the downtown.”
Highway 278 CID, also called the Newton County Community Improvements Act, legislation that sets in motion improvements to make the U.S. 278 corridor more dynamic and attractive to high-end businesses and increase property values for owners already located within the CID.
On average, US 278 has several areas that see more than 30,000 cars per day! Phase I of the 278 Improvement project is slated to begin in the first part of 2028, overhauling traffic intersections, lighting, landscaping, sidewalks, and medians.
This has the potential to impact Hwy 278 and the City of Covington significantly and promises to be a game-changer. #EconomicDevelopment
