Earlier this month, India commissioned three major naval combatant vessels in a single ceremony for the first time in the nation's history. The submarine Vagsheer, the destroyer Surat, and the frigate Nilgiri were inducted into service at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders in Mumbai. With plans to field 170 to 175 ships by 2035, the coming decade will see a rapid transformation and expansion of India's existing Navy, potentially redefining the balance of power in an increasingly contested Indian Ocean. 🇮🇳✍️ India could sign two deals to acquire 26 Rafale fighter aircraft and three additional Scorpene submarines for its navy by next month. The value of the acquisition is $10 billion, Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Tripathi said during a press conference.
