I have learned that the cornerstone of elevated leadership is having a clear, inspirational, and stakeholder-centric purpose. But, in my work with organizations, I find that (1) very few organizations have a clear, inspirational, and stakeholder-centric purpose, and (2) very few executive teams have much interest in investing in purpose, both to the detriment of their organization and their leadership.
