New Post: Elegy for Ingenuity, a tiny helicopter - https://lnkd.in/dv35DYpi - When the Perseverance rover touched down on Mars on February 18, 2021, it was carrying a tiny passenger. Attached to its underside was a helicopter that would attempt something new for a NASA Mars mission: flight. Producing lift isn't an easy task in the thin atmosphere of Mars, but if they could prove it was possible it would open up new possibilities for exploring areas that are hard to reach by traditional rovers. — Read the rest The post Elegy for Ingenuity, a tiny helicopter appeared first on Boing Boing. - #news #business #world -------------------------------------------------- Download: Stupid Simple CMS - https://lnkd.in/g4y9XFgR -------------------------------------------------- or download at SourceForge - https://lnkd.in/gNqB7dnp

Oppy, the Mars Rover 🪐✨ Inspired by this week's weekly challenge at Polygon Runway Discord on the theme of Martian life, a small homage Opportunity, the Mars rover who was active in Mars exploration from 2004 to 2019. Oppy's last words to NASA were interpreted as "My battery is low and it's getting dark" ❤️ Modeled, animated and rendered in Blender using Cycles, hope you like it! Space Animals Trinity: Each Canvas is 81x102cm, Acrylic & Mixed Media. 1954 "Laika". Was a Stray Russian Female Dog. Electrodes transmitted Laika's vital signs back to Earth, revealing the space dog died after her fourth orbit when her capsule overheated. Five months later, after thousands of orbits, Sputnik 2 — referred to as a space coffin turned shooting star — fell back to earth, disintegrating, with Laika's remains, "Félicette" Stray Parisian Female cat that became the first feline launched into space on 18 October 1963 as part of the French space program. Despite surviving the trip, Félicette was euthanized two months after the launch for a necropsy to examine her brain. Another cat was launched into space on October 24, but due to a rocket malfunction, it crashed, resulting in the cat's death. "Abert" Before humans went into space in the 1960s, so many mammals, fish, rodents, amphibians and insects were launched into space, including numerous other primates, so that scientists could investigate the biological effects of spaceflight. The United States launched flights containing primate passengers primarily between 1948 and 1961 with one flight in 1969 and one in 1985. France launched two monkey-carrying flights in 1967. The Soviet Union and Russia launched monkeys between 1983 and 1996. Most primates were anesthetized before lift-off. #jolenedandelionart #spaceanimals #spacechimp #jolenedandelionthatveganartist #thatveganbellydancer #chichesterart #femaleartist #veganartist #artwork #painting #animalcrueltyfree #surrealism #animalrights #fantasyart #spaceart #rabbit #bethevoiceforthevoiceless #inspacenoonecanhearyouscream #outreach #nasa #spacetravel #veganfortheanimals #spacetravel #chimpanzee #astronaut #carlsagan #dogs #cats #newpainting

Simply ridiculous how the world is going crazy for such story. It's like if a tourism spaceflight will get missing and we should be worry about such idiots doing that, or something happens to those people climbing skyscrapers or walking on a rope between two buildings or mountains ... They exactly know that. Hamish Harding, the same idiot that last year did a space tourism flight. Would be there a person with no money, no one (or almost no one) would talk about that! How money just bad influences medias too. Remember all what was said previously about tourism spaceflight https://buff.ly/3PwtN3q Different is if something happens to researchers, that are doing such things for a specific goal, not to waste money to be happy and being able to say "i did it, 99.9999999% of the world nope". Yes, Paul Henry Nargeolet is / was a researcher, but the main goal of such trip was not to do research. What Charles Darwin would call that? Defy the Odds and SOAR like bee. Apparently NASA has a poster hanging with bees that reads: "Aerodynamically a bee's body is not made to fly; the good thing is that the bee doesn't know". This powerful quote reminds us that just because conventional wisdom says something is impossible, that doesn't mean we can't achieve it through sheer determination and a willingness to defy the odds. The law of physics says that a bee shouldn't be able to fly, the aerodynamic principle says that the breadth of its wings is too small to keep its huge body in flight, but a bee doesn’t know this "logic" - it simply takes flight and enjoys the pollen of life. This is what we can all do. Fly and prevail in every moment in the face of any difficulty and in any circumstance despite what they say. Be like the bee - don't overthink it, just take flight and make the most of every moment. The only limits we face are the ones we place on ourselves. #motivation #inspiration #bees #flying #impossibility #mindset Image: A spring day in the life of insects. This is way cool! 'Star Trek' on Mars? Curiosity rover spots Starfleet symbol on Red Planet As Curiosity prepared to conduct "contact science on a flat block of dark-toned bedrock," it captured these images, as reported in a January 9 mission blog update. Among its imminent objectives is the examination of the "composition and texture of the dark bands observed from orbit" within the rocks, utilizing various instruments. https://lnkd.in/gN-CPTuW

When I talk about the year 2013, what do you remember? 🤔 Frozen becoming Disney’s new hit movie 🎬? Andy Murray winning Wimbledon for the first time 🎾? A NASA rover finding evidence of liquid water on Mars, possibly indicating a more life-friendly planet 🚀? And who could forget the events of the years to follow? 🧊 The Ice Bucket Challenge 🇬🇧 Brexit 🇺🇸 Trump becoming President of the United States. Talk about a trip down memory lane. But, while the world's attention has been pulled in a million different directions over the past 10 years, investors have quietly been focusing on one thing… Real estate. And their strategy has paid off in a BIG way. In my latest series, I look back at how real estate has performed over the last decade. I start with offices 👇 🔗 Link to full YouTube video: https://lnkd.in/gJJ7PMim #realestate #memorylane #10yearsago #propertyinvesting

Ever gaze at the stars and feel a sense of calm? Well, buckle up, because things might be a little more chaotic out there than meets the eye! Did you know? Stars, asteroids, and comets are constantly zooming through space at incredible speeds. Without anything to steer them, they could collide in a cosmic smash-up! These collisions unleash monumental amounts of energy, creating spectacular but potentially dangerous light shows. While they might seem far off, they highlight the dynamic nature of our universe. Want to learn more about space collisions and how we track these celestial objects? Share this post and let's discuss the future of space exploration and keeping our cosmic neighborhood safe!
