Invasive carp, most notably the bighead and silver varieties, were introduced to control weeds in aquatic farms on the Mississippi in the 1970s. They rapidly established in the river and its tributaries. Some years later there were concerns that the carp were out-competing native fish for food and space, which threatened the Great Lakes fishing industry. We were asked to supply an acoustic and high intensity light based system. Subsequent surveys showed a 100% deflection of silver carp and no bighead carp were found upstream of the barrier. https://lnkd.in/eiVjeuu2
