🌟𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻'𝘀 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗙𝗲𝗺𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵🌟 At the recent Sensors Converge 2024, an inspiring panel of women in FemTech highlighted a critical issue: the lack of data on women's health, especially on disease indicators. Prior to 1994, drug trials predominantly used male subjects, overlooking over half the population. Today, we understand the importance of including a diverse group of subjects in product design and testing. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗹: ♦ 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: Stacy Salvi, VP of Movano Health, emphasized the need to test wearables on different skin tones and body sizes. She showcased the Evie smart ring, designed to track vital health metrics for women. ♦ 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀: The panel discussed the potential of using data from smart rings worn by thousands of women to gather information on menopausal signals. ♦ 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: Catherine Liao, Chief Strategy Officer at CardieX, called for more biometric data on pregnancy care, highlighting the significant data gap. ♦ 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮: Collecting data is not enough; it must be contextualized to be truly useful. ♦ 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲: Despite past shortcomings, private and public investment in FemTech is on the rise. Analysts predict the FemTech market will reach $50 billion by 2025. With women controlling 80% of household spending, the business opportunities are substantial.   ♦ 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲: Maike Scharp from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation noted the global significance of women's health research. The Foundation and NIH are collaborating on the Innovation Equity Forum, identifying 50 high-return investment opportunities in women’s health R&D. ♦ 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: The panel, "Revolutionizing Women's Health--The Blueprint for FemTech Triumph," was moderated by Monica Highfill, founding director of Highfill Health.   🚀 The future of FemTech is promising, with companies and investors recognizing the immense opportunities in improving women’s health. Let's continue to support and drive innovation in this vital field! #FemTech #WomensHealth #Innovation #Healthcare #SensorsConverge2024 #Wearables https://lnkd.in/eFThcMGm
