Ever since Nicolas Roch told me about this upcoming paper a few months ago, I've been eagerly waiting for its release. And it's finally out! The research on superconducting traveling-wave parametric amplifiers (TWPAs) just hit a new milestone. The team has successfully created a Josephson-junction-based TWPA isolator, which achieves an impressive 20 dB gain and 30 dB reverse isolation over 500 MHz. This advancement means we can now design more efficient and compact quantum readout systems that fit perfectly within a dilution refrigerator, removing the need for bulky isolators. By integrating both amplification and isolation directly into the system, this technology could make complex quantum circuits easier to design and operate. In a semi conductor under intense illumination, electrons and holes may have temperatures exceeding that of the surrounding lattice. For simplicity, such hot carrier systems are usually considered with a single carrier temperature ; but electrons and holes have many reasons actually reach different temperatures. In our most recent paper carried by Thomas Vezin and Nathan Roubinowitz, we show how a fine analysis of photoluminescence allows to distinguish the temperature of electrons from that of holes, and use this tools to unveil the transfer of energy from one population to the other ! https://lnkd.in/exewYSjR
