We certified The Ivey's Hotel and they are great example 'how not to do dog friendly'. They barely scraped a C rank, scoring just 11 points out of 52. This is because they price gouge dog owners with unnecessarily steep fees while providing no services, amenities, or facilities for dogs in return, or even allowing them access to the wider hotel, and to make things worse they have a small weight limit meaning only very small dogs are welcome. We use hotels like this as an example of how not all dog friendly hotels are created equally, and how the words 'dog friendly' mean nothing unless they have been properly certified and ranked by an independent third party. A textbook example of a hotel that can be described as dog tolerant at best. You folks need to do better than this Kyle DeHont. https://lnkd.in/dt5i4qQi

We certified the Amerikalinjen Hotel in Oslo, Norway, as dog-friendly. Despite being considered one of the best hotels in the city, they scored a disappointing D rank. This is mainly due to the lack of basic amenities like beds or food and water bowls or any dog-friendly services or facilities. But you can go into their bar and restaurant with your dog, and they do not have any weight limits; we like their canine inclusivity. They have a reasonable canine tax of just 500 NOK / 41 EUR / $50 UDF per stay compared to other hotels, but the lack of basic amenities and services makes it a canine tax. Perhaps something to think about Ørjan Lundmark? https://lnkd.in/dnBEN6pQ

We certified the InterContinental Lisbon as dog-friendly; they scored a C rank, making them an acceptable choice for dog owners visiting the city. They provide basic amenities like beds and bowls, but they do not sell dog food. Dogs are not allowed in the bar, restaurant, or terrace, which limits some social options for dog owners, but dogs can stay in the room on their own, meaning that you can enjoy this hotel as long as you leave your dog in the room. Not bad Carla Fontes and Maarten P. Drenth, but this rank makes you one of the least dog-friendly InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, needs improving. https://lnkd.in/eYMzw4ZS

We certified the Catalonia Eixample 1864 Hotel, and it scored a failing F rank, making it a hotel to avoid for dog owners visiting Barcelona. Dogs are not allowed in the common areas, bars, and restaurants; they must stay in your room, meaning you cannot expect to enjoy this hotel with your dog. They fail to provide basic amenities like beds, food, and water bowls, and they have an absurd 20 Kg (40 pounds) weight limit that excludes our Labrador. They will also charge you a canine tax of €22 ($25) per night while offering nothing in return; this hotel should be ashamed to call itself dog-friendly. Deberían sentir vergüenza; un grupo tan importante como Catalonia Hotels & Resorts necesita hacerlo mejor Daniel Cortina Ullate y Felix Navas Marques. https://lnkd.in/dxn9V-pn

We certified the Bulgari Hotel Paris as dog-friendly; they scored our A rank, making them an good choice for small dog owners visiting the city. Dogs are welcome in the bar and restaurant, and they provide dog beds and food/water bowls so you do not need to pack and bring them with you. Dogs stay for free, BUT they have a ridiculous weight limit of just 10 kilos that restricts their hospitality to all but the smallest dog breeds and calls their commitment to being dog-friendly into question. Your weight limit is absurd and needs a rethink Sylvain Ercoli and Paul Moreau, it unfairly restricts medium sized dog breeds like our founders Labrador which is why we are shortly implement rank pre-requisites for hotels like yours. Expect to be down ranked to B because of it later in the year. https://lnkd.in/dHwEBcei

We certified the InterContinental Porto - Palácio das Cardosas as dog-friendly; it scored a mediocre C rank, making it a barely acceptable choice for dog owners visiting Porto. They have an absurd weight limit of 33 pounds, which excludes our labrador, and dogs are not allowed in their bar or restaurant, underlining the distinct lack of canine inclusivity at this IHG hotel. This makes this hotel an outlier and lower ranking than any other of the InterContinental Hotels & Resorts we certified, and their $ 30-a-night canine tax is steep compared to other hotels, especially given the restrictions. There is room for improvement here Duarte Pinho. https://lnkd.in/dfVihZTq

We certified the Classik Hotel Alexander Plaza as dog-friendly; they scored our failing F rank, making them a hotel dog owners should avoid. Canine inclusivity is non existent, as dogs are not allowed in the bar, restaurant, terrace, or any public areas. Additionally, dogs cannot be left alone in the room, which could complicate your plans if you need to go somewhere dogs aren't allowed. Only a few of their rooms are dog friendly, so availability might be an issue, but they have no weight limits so all dog breeds are welcome. Urgent need for improvement here Aylin Lamsfuss, we think that the Classik Hotel Collection can do a lot better than this. https://lnkd.in/dQmEehxB

10moThis hotel is the reason we are rolling out a new D rank, they shouldn't have been ranked a C at all, but there wasn't a lower rank.
