As a parent and candidate for Orange County Sheriff, the disappearance of #MadelineSoto has highlighted a concerning safety gap in our Orange County Public Schools. Attendance must be taken, submitted timely, and immediate notifications made to parents when their child doesn't show up for class. Like many of you, I watched the press conference yesterday and learned it was only when Maddie's mother went to pick her up at the end of the day, that she learned Maddie didn't make it to school. Collectively, parents must demand immediate notification when our children are absent from school or skipping class. Immediate alerts must be sent to parents via email, text message, or phone call. Currently, parents only receive emails at the end of the day, at 5:52PM, which is unacceptable. Time is critical. It's time for Orange County Public Schools to prioritize student safety by addressing the substantial attendance reporting delay and implement a more effective and rapid notification system. Let's find Maddie. #mooreforsheriff #EducationAndSafetyInitiative #OCPS #Orlando #Florida #NCMEC #MissingPerson #police #sheriff #deputy #family #parents #teacher #attendance #alert #wecandobetter

🚑 Hearts Matter: As we celebrate American Heart Month, let’s empower ourselves with life-saving knowledge! 💙 🔴 Emergency Preparedness: Imagine being the hero-in-waiting, ready to save a life. Here’s your heart emergency plan: Call 911: If someone suddenly collapses, ensure the scene is safe, then dial 9-1-1. Ask someone to fetch an AED (automated external defibrillator) if available. Hands-Only CPR: Place one hand on top of the other and push hard and fast on the victim’s chest. Think of a familiar song with 100 to 120 beats per minute and match your compressions to the rhythmNever stop compressions for more than 10 seconds12. Defibrillator Deployment: When the AED arrives, follow the prompts. It’s like having a heart superhero at your fingertips! Remember, CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) is the beat of life. Let’s make our communities healthier and safer. This Valentine’s Day, let’s show love by knowing how to save a heart. 🌟 #HeartsMatter #HeartMonth #ValentinesDay 💖

During the 2024 State of the City Address, Mayor Evans highlighted the progress the City of Rochester is making in public safety. Our city's safety is the top priority, and City Hall is stepping up in a variety of ways, including: - Boosting recruitment in the Fire Department & Emergency Communications to better reflect our community. - Revamping the Pathways to Public Safety Program for high schoolers, opening doors to rewarding careers. - Adding new Code Enforcement Inspectors to ensure our city's standards are met. - Upgrading streets and sidewalks for safer walks. - Soon unveiling the Vision Zero plan to eliminate crashes and save lives. - Partnering with law enforcement at all levels to tackle illegal guns and violence hotspots. Crime and violence are on the decline, thanks to continued strategies of suppression, prevention, and intervention.
