Reducing sugar content in dried cherries meant this fruity snack might end up hard and dry, since sugar contributes to its moisture content. So, we got to work on a triple play: reducing the snack’s #AddedSugar, balancing its #flavor and improving its water behavior for a soft and tender dried fruit treat. Read the case study to see how we did it with Fibersol®: https://lnkd.in/ed8Kt22t

#foodfriday It is interesting once you make a decision to reduce or eliminate #sugar intake how you notice that everything has #sugar added to it. Weirdly, I think the #sugar is not even needed for the taste. And if I was into conspiracy theories one might think that the sugar industry was paying companies to include #sugar in the products. How has your overall all type #sugar consumption changed in the last 12 months? 1️⃣ Increased sugar intake 2️⃣ Decreased sugar intake 3️⃣ Sugar intake flat 4️⃣ Don't know or track sugar intake

Hey there, Let's talk about sugar and bust some myths, yeah? So, you might have heard some guys saying sugar cane is way better than regular sugar because it's "natural." But hold up, let's think about this for a sec! First off, your body doesn't care if the sugar came from a fancy cane farm or a factory. It's all the same once it hits your system. It's like saying rain water is better than tap water - it's still just H2O! Here's the funny part - sugar cane actually has MORE calories than white sugar! So if you're trying to watch your weight for that upcoming school dance, sugar cane isn't doing you any favors. Now, some people will tell you sugar cane has all these great minerals. But guess what? You'd have to eat a whole sugar cane farm to get any real benefits. That's like eating a truckload of jollof rice just to get some tomato nutrients! The real deal is this: too much sugar, no matter where it's from, isn't great for you. It can mess with your teeth, your weight, and even lead to some serious health issues down the road. So, next time someone brags about their "healthy" sugar cane habit, you can drop some knowledge on them. Remember, being smart about food isn't about fancy labels - it's about understanding what you're eating and making good choices. Stay sweet (but not too sweet), and keep being awesome! #Eat_healthly #Sugar #Sugarcanes #Food_myths #Food_Awareness

Your sweet tooth is the result of a 50-year media and lobbying campaign by the Sugar Association. For decades, they’ve paid off scientists to publish articles pinning the blame for heart disease on fat and cholesterol. In fact, there is a long history of corporate strong-arming and deceit, including straight up bribery. The sugar and soda industries have aggressively lobbied the American government and distorted science to keep the public hooked on sweetened foods and beverages for years. Now, Big Sugar’s latest battle is school lunches. School cafeterias have become a cash cow and marketing blitz for the sugar industry. These days kids can pick up Pop-Tarts and Lunchables in their school cafeteria or even Domino's pizza. That’s because through trade groups like the Sugar Association, many parts of the food industry are fighting rules that would encourage kids to make healthier choices -- and winning. Meanwhile, they’re also tweaking their formulas so they can keep marketing to kids while doing the bare minimum to hit what limited nutritional guidelines already exist. Fortunately, the USDA runs the federal school lunch program and for the first time, the USDA has limited how much sugar can be added to specific foods like breakfast cereals and yogurts in schools -- and how many calories can come from added sugar in general. There's one problem: The new rules don't start until 2027 and that gives Big Sugar a LOT of time to spend millions trying to stop these new regulations from going into effect.
