I’m often the last to leave the office on a Friday and I’m always struck by the peace and tranquility (and the amazing view from the office) after a frenetic week of activity. We made a decision a long time ago to start a little earlier, with a shorter lunch break, Monday to Thursday, to enable us to finish at lunchtime on a Friday to start the weekend early. We dress down on a Friday and typically don’t have clients in for meetings, and sometimes, I’ve been known to bring sausage sandwiches in for everyone! 😋 I am interested to know what everyone else does on a Friday. Anyone taken the plunge and switched to a four day week, and if so, how’s it working? #Business #FinancialPlanning

Almost as fun as Thanksgiving dinner is the debrief with the project manager down the street. 😂 It makes the kiddos' bus wait in the cold go faster to compare Turkey Day planning strategies. He's partial to spreadsheets, as are we. Hey, we're planners. When unexpected guests turned up less than a week before the Big Dinner, my partner and I had to scramble. We had a strategy in place, of course. We've hosted Thanksgiving the past few years. But last year stretched us in unexpected ways. How do you roast a 30-pound turkey in a small oven? We did it, learned, and moved on. This year, we have a bigger oven. We thought we were golden like turkey skin. Now we needed space for more guests. Yet our space was fully accounted for. It was mapped, listed, timed out. We even had to-go boxes for everyone. The only thing we didn't have was a seating chart. And then this wrinkle. We tore up our plans. We remapped the house. We brainstormed relocating outside. (No go -- north Texas went from 70 degrees Tuesday to a high of 50 Thursday.) We realized we could improve on what we thought was the perfect use of space. To paraphrase a famous saying, no plan survives first contact with the Thanksgiving guests. We pivoted. Literally. We moved furniture again, the entire first floor, shouting Ross Geller's famous line. We bought folding tables and more supplies. We rethought the menu to accommodate more food. We made, yes, a seating chart. We, who are planners, swallowed our pride and rethought our plan. We did it. Thanksgiving went off without a hitch. As it did last year, and as it will next year when a wrinkle inevitable disrupts what we think is the perfect plan. Think you've got the perfect #marketing plan? Better be ready to pivot.

🎉 Hosting a Dinner Party: A Real-World Analogy for Callback Functions 🎉 Ever wondered what callback functions are and how they work? Let's break it down with a familiar scenario: hosting a dinner party! Imagine you're hosting a dinner party. You send out invitations to your friends, asking them to RSVP. Some of your friends respond immediately, while others take a bit longer to confirm their attendance. Here's how it works: 💌 Sending Out Invitations: Think of this as the main part of your program. You send out invitations to your friends, asking them to RSVP. 📝 Handling RSVPs: As your friends respond, you don't wait for all of them to reply before continuing with other tasks. Instead, you keep preparing for the party, such as setting the table, preparing food, and decorating. 🤝 Callback Functions: Each time a friend responds (callback), you handle their response accordingly. For example, noting dietary preferences or adjusting plans based on their attendance. ⏳ Non-Blocking Behavior: Your program continues executing other tasks while waiting for responses. This demonstrates the non-blocking nature of callbacks, allowing the program to perform other tasks concurrently. 🎊 Party Time!: When all responses are received (or a certain time limit is reached), you proceed with the next steps, such as finalizing the menu and preparing the venue. Just like hosting a dinner party, callback functions allow programs to handle tasks asynchronously, improving efficiency and responsiveness. #KeepLearning #CallBackFunction

🎯 Struggling with a packed venue on weekends but empty tables during the week? It’s a common issue. Saturdays are buzzing, but Monday to Thursday? Crickets 🦗 Here’s the thing: the "build it and they will come" mentality only works for the weekend. The rest of the week, you need to fight hard for every seat filled. Relying on walk-ins or hope won’t cut it. So, how do you actually solve it? ✅ Create a direct marketing strategy that finds your ideal customers and speaks directly to them. ✅ Craft an irresistible mid-week offer that motivates people to book, not just scroll by. ✅ Drive urgency so people take action now, not “maybe next time.” Our Get Booked program does all this for you. With our 3-step Engage, Connect, Grow system, you’ll be filling tables at the click of a button. 💥 Interested in getting your restaurant booked out all week? Let’s talk. #RestaurantMarketing #GetBooked #FillYourVenue

I would say 90% of our clients are from the hospitality sector. Working in this sector myself for the last 10 years I understand how hard January can be for everyone. We always ask the client a number of questions, all with the hope of supporting them as best we can. 1. Flexible Scheduling: we provide this throughout the year but January more than ever, can we reduce hours to save them extra? With that being said , we add a sly day on us to keep on top of the work. We lose a little but support is more important. 2. Offer Deep Cleaning: January can also be a great time for deep cleans, getting to the places that we may have missed through a busier and dirtier December. With flexible scheduling we can reduce days but add that ‘sly day’ for a deep clean. 3. Discounts: offering a small discount to those who pay early or on time helps our cash flow and theirs. 4. Social Media: we have started to showcase our clients on our Facebook and Instagram. Their venue, their food items & drink offerings. Always works a treat with our followers. We don’t tend to show before and after photos for another reason. Let’s be proactive, supportive and adaptable.
