Self-control is simply the ability to monitor your internal conflict. Picture this: You drive by a fast-food restaurant. There's a part of you that is tempted to stop. If you are aware of this internal conflict. ---> then monitor it = you have self-control. But if you do not monitor it and act without a filter, then ---> you have lost self-control. You get what you pay for. 💰 Think we can all agree on this. You wouldn't walk into a Michelin star restaurant with £10 and expect to even get anything! Maybe at a fast food restaurant but definitely not at a top restaurant. So why does the narrative change when you put staff on the scale? How do you expect to attract the best talent when you are offering below the market rate. The point of this is, if you don't have the budget, lower your expectations.
