The robots are on their way. If you're still skeptical about the possibility of having general-purpose robotic helpers in the near future, I highly recommend this short demo. It's named 'Astribot', released by a Chinese research company. While much remains unknown about their work, the video effectively showcases the vast potential as robotic assistants approach the necessary thresholds for widespread adoption. The race to develop general-purpose robots has been intensifying for years, but speed, dexterity, and task complexity continue to pose significant challenges. However, this is changing. The ongoing integration of advanced robotics, computer vision, and multi-model understanding of AI will undoubtedly give rise to a new global industry. It's not a question of if, but when. Amazon already operates nearly a million robotic units in their warehouses, a leap from zero just 12 years ago! Simple use cases, like robotic lawnmowers, have already become a multi-billion-dollar industry. Just think about the potential when the industry manages to offer truly general-purpose robots at a reasonable price. How quickly will it become commonplace to have a robotic helper at home?
