Behind the Scenes with Our Newest Superstar Award Recipient! 🌟 We’re excited to celebrate Ashley Willis from the Indialantic Police Department, our latest Superstar Award recipient, for her outstanding use of RapidDeploy technology to increase her situational awareness and taking quick action. On May 1, 2023, Ashley was covering a shift when she received a "signal" call—those tricky 911 hang-ups that are easy to miss. Ashley, who is constantly checking and scanning her mapping technology, noticed the dropped call and acted quickly. Recognizing the potential severity, Ashley attempted to call the number back while simultaneously sending officers to the location. Thanks to her keen attention, officers arrived promptly and found a 7-month pregnant woman who had just been battered by her husband, leading to a prompt arrest. We are proud of telecommunicators like Ashley who not only know how to utilize RapidDeploy’s technology, but also trust their intuition to make life-saving decisions. Check out these behind-the-scenes photos of Ashley receiving her award! Do you have a story to share? 🚨 Save Story Spotlight: A Cross-County Collaboration Helps an Injured Child This story starts with a misrouted cell phone call and a report that a child had fallen into a pool. Thanks to RapidDeploy’s technology, the call ends with a successful response for a child with a head injury two counties away, demonstrating the critical importance of NG911 technology that aids in seamless collaboration in emergency response. Santa Rosa County Florida, received a 911 call reporting that a child had fallen into a pool when the connection was abruptly lost. After two callbacks from 911 and without successful contact with the caller, the Santa Rosa County telecommunicator used the RapidDeploy #RadiusMap to identify that the call originated outside of the agency jurisdiction at a location nearly 100 miles away in Bay County, FL. RapidDeploy helped the emergency response teams in Santa Rosa and Bay County flawlessly coordinate a response by pinpointing the caller’s exact location. Upon arrival, the emergency response teams discovered that a child had fallen beside the pool and struck their head. This real-life story ended successfully because the telecommunicator was able to leverage RapidDeploy’s #NG911 technology to quickly pinpoint the caller and coordinate a multi-agency response. Continuing our #ShareYourPurpose campaign this #NationalPublicSafetyTelecommunicatorsWeek, we’re sharing the inspiring story of another first responder. This post comes from Candice Crawley from the Powhatan County Public Safety Communications, VA “I became a telecommunicator because I love to help people in any way, big or small, even if I do not get recognition for it. The feeling that I get, knowing that I asked the right questions to identify a suspect or stayed on the line comforting a distressed caller until medics arrived, that feeling is unmatched. I will continue to do this job so that I can be that calming, helpful voice to the caller on the other end of that call.” Share your own story with the hashtag #ShareYourPurpose and tag us @RapidSOS!
