The state is improving school safety with proactive measures. At the state school safety conference, attendees will learn to spot and address issues before they become violent. Georgia's public schools will each get $45,000 this year to improve security. The director of GEMA and the state superintendent emphasize early detection's importance for safe schools, especially after recent threats. They urge using all resources, including technology and inter-agency cooperation, to identify threats early. This comes as part of ongoing efforts to enhance security and prioritize student safety statewide. #SchoolSafety #GeorgiaEducation https://lnkd.in/eVxKsWEV

Some great research on the effectiveness of various school safety measures in preventing school shootings was just published by Katherine Perez, Ph.D. and the IAPSC - International Association of Professional Security Consultants Evidence Based Research Committee led by Karim Vellani. It's deeply tragic when critical incidents on school campuses become the catalyst for change. Every incident is a stark reminder of the importance of proactive safety measures. The recent report on the University of Arizona incident outlines essential lessons and recommendations for enhancing safety, including improvements in emergency communications, surveillance camera coverage, classroom door locks, and building access control. As a community, we must prioritize these safety measures to protect our students, faculty, and staff. By learning from these incidents, we can create a safer environment for everyone. Let's continue to work together to ensure that our campuses are secure and resilient against future threats. https://lnkd.in/efXH3gbW #SchoolSafety #CampusSecurity #EmergencyPreparedness #PhysicalSecurity #CommunitySafety #SecuritySolutions

As we continue to face the threat of school shootings across the nation, including tragic recent events, school safety remains a pressing concern. Many districts, particularly in Connecticut, have responded by implementing advanced security technologies like panic buttons, emergency alert systems, and advanced communication protocols. These measures, while critical, are only as effective as the human systems they support. At Trident Group America, we understand that technology doesn't work in a vacuum. It enhances human efforts but cannot replace the role of well-trained personnel and comprehensive preparedness plans. School security must blend cutting-edge tools with human expertise to provide a holistic approach. As Dan Maxwell, a former Madison police officer, emphasized, schools today must be equipped not just with technology but also with the right strategies to ensure rapid, coordinated responses in emergencies. Communication systems, in particular, are the cornerstone of effective school safety. Instantaneous sharing of information between schools, families, and first responders can make a life-or-death difference in critical moments. Yet, as experts like Ken Trump have pointed out, it’s essential to avoid "security theater"—relying on flashy, high-tech solutions without ensuring the basics are in place, such as functioning radios, trust between students and staff, and clear crisis protocols. At Trident Group, we focus on integrating advanced technology like the Direct Action Response Assessment System (DARAS) with human expertise. Our DARAS solution is designed to streamline communication, enhance decision-making during emergencies, and provide a framework for schools to respond effectively. However, it's the training and preparedness of school staff, security personnel, and local responders that ultimately make these tools truly powerful. We’re here to help school districts balance the latest technology with the human capital necessary to keep students and staff safe. Learn more about how Trident Group America can support your district's comprehensive security needs by contacting us today. #SchoolSafety #TridentGroupAmerica #SecurityTechnology #SafetyFirst #EmergencyResponse #HolisticSecurity #SchoolSecurity #DARAS #Preparedness Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gs48rHte

Another great publication by the IAPSC! This whitepaper discusses the efficacy of school security measures based on available data from previous incidents. After reading through, it is very clear that to protect schools, you must have a holistic security program. This includes a plan on security staffing, support groups (Threat Assessment teams, mental health support), and security systems. There is no one answer to this endemic problem, however with the right comprehensive solution we can reduce the risk to students and staff. 🚨 School Threats are No Joke: Accountability is Key to Prevention 🚨 In light of increasing school threats, it's clear that law enforcement is taking a no-tolerance stance. Volusia County Sheriff Michael Chitwood’s recent comments reflect a growing frustration with bogus threats disrupting schools and endangering lives. Following the arrest of an 11-year-old student in Florida for making a fake mass shooting threat, Chitwood warned parents and students alike: if you make a threat, authorities are coming after you. In today’s digital age, online threats have real-world consequences. In Volusia County alone, there have been 282 threats in just the first few weeks of school this year. It’s not just happening in Florida; across the U.S., from California to South Carolina, students are facing serious charges for similar threats. Sheriff Chitwood is using a bold strategy—publicly naming and sharing videos of students being arrested for these hoaxes. While some may debate the psychological effects, the message is clear: school safety comes first. Whether it's "a joke" or not, students must understand the gravity of their actions. At Trident Group America, we recognize the rising urgency around school safety. Our Direct Action Response Assessment System (DARAS) is designed to help schools identify and prevent threats before they escalate. By implementing rigorous risk assessments and tailored security solutions, we can protect schools and create safer environments for learning. Let’s work together to combat this rise in threats. Parents, educators, and security professionals must unite to keep our children safe. 🛡️ Contact Trident Group America today to learn how our school security services and DARAS assessments can help safeguard your schools. #SchoolSafety #ThreatPrevention #SchoolSecurity #DARAS #TridentGroupAmerica #KeepingSchoolsSafe #SafetyFirst #ActiveShooterPreparedness
