Why do teams go above and beyond? Many factors come into play. Perhaps they love what they do, and who they work with or have a company culture that supports, encourages, and leads by example. I asked this question recently when I was on the receiving end of what it feels like when teams go above and beyond. My husband experienced a medical emergency at his place of employment recently (he’s doing great now). I received the call from HR notifying me of the situation but it didn’t stop there. I received updates from them on my way to the hospital of his condition as they were receiving it. Wow. At the hospital, his boss showed up to ensure I had someone to sit with while tests were conducted. Double wow. I was filled in on what transpired and learned the company’s response teams arrived within minutes when their emergency plan was set in motion. After experiencing the genuine care and kindness from the various team members, I had to write to the CEO to make him aware that not only was their emergency response plan a success but that I was touched by the genuine kindness I experienced. I put the letter in the mail and hoped he would receive it. A month later I was surprised to receive a response. Not an e-mail or a typed letter but a personalized handwritten note from the CEO. I had the answer to my question and I remembered the quote below. #leadership#aboveandbeyond#kindness#leadbyexample

WOW! What a story! Great leadership in action is seen through the actions of the followers. And those actions were more than just an action plan they were taught. That’s real people caring about people. So glad he’s doing okay!
