It’s #BlackHistoryMonth in the UK, and we wanted to share important research about how to adapt #Primary (K-5) computing resources for cultural responsiveness by bringing in the learners’ identity. The study found that when teachers incorporated culturally responsive practices and encouraged students to create digital representations of themselves, students were more invested in their learning. This highlights the importance of tailoring lessons to students' backgrounds and experiences. Our #RPFSeminars are back after a long summer break 🫶 In October, we will be hearing from Arto Hellas and Juho Leinonen from Aalto University about "Teaching and learning computer science with rapidly evolving generative AI models". In this talk, they will be outlining their experiences utilising #GenerativeAI for a wide variety of teaching tasks, such as exercise generation, responding to student help requests, as well as teaching students how to prompt large language models. They'll also be discussing their experiences organising an undergraduate course on software engineering with large language models, where the rapid evolution of the field presents both challenges and opportunities.
