How many items should your live auction have? Typically I sell about 5 live auction items, but today I'm working on a live auction for a private school...with 19 terrific items! It's common for schools to have longer live auctions because they have such a deep pool of committed and connected donors (parents), so getting great items can be easier. "But doesn't selling 19 items take too long?" you might be thinking. That depends totally on the structure of the evening and its goals. In some parts of the country, fundraising auctions have 30 or even 50 items! 3 things make longer auctions successful: 1) the guests know in advance what to expect that night 2) the items are exciting and in demand 3) the auctioneer entertains even those who aren't bidding. So, how many live auction items are you seeing at events this season?

Golf for the HEROs Vision and Motivation: Enhancing the Game of Golf: We aim to foster new relationships and enhance the game of golf through innovative tournament concepts that allow professionals to compete alongside beginners. Inspiration from Mentorship: Inspired by my mentor, Dick Garn, and his Oldsmobile Scramble, I designed the Big Blitz to provide a unique tournament experience leveraging modern technology. Key Features: Financial Structure: One of the most significant features of the Big Blitz is the ability to use 20% of the fees to support PGA HOPE, The HERO Project, and the Wounded Warriors Project while awarding 70% to the prize pool. This ensures substantial support for noble causes and a significant return for participants. Event Types: We offer various event types to cater to different preferences: $10 winner-take-all $10 and $26 events with one winner for every 10 participants $25 events with one winner for every 40 entries Inclusivity and Accessibility: The format includes a free-to-play component and ensures that participation does not impact amateur status, making it accessible to players of all skill levels. Global Reach: With the capability to access the tournament from a smartphone, our goal is to add a global component, connecting golf enthusiasts worldwide. Personal Commitment: Long-Term Dedication: I have been working on these ideas since the late '70s and am committed to their long-term success, believing in their potential to revolutionize the sport. Community and Relationships: Our project aims to bring people together, fostering new relationships within the sports communities. Call to Action: Support and Participation: We are now seeking support to publicize and expand the project. Join us on this journey, contribute to the growth of this innovative golf tournament, and help us support PGA Golf, The HERO Project, and the Wounded Warriors Project. Our website can be found at www.thebigblitz.com. Events are FREE while we build the members' roster. "Where on the field is the $1 I'm paying for soda?" A famous scene from Moneyball where newly acquired DH David Justice asks why General Manager Billy Beane charges for soda in the club house. Jonah Hill's fictionalized character Peter Brand replies that "Billy likes to keep the money on the field" While the ownership of the soon to be Las Vegas A's is notoriously stingy, this scene was actually total creative liberty but it made a point that is relatable to many who work in the nonprofit world. When staff at nonprofits are forced to work with broken chairs, slow computers, and chronic understaffing, these things don't actually put more money into the program. They're symbolic sacrafices to demonstrate commitment to fans (donors) and more often than not management. There's a reason professional sports teams don't try and save money by having their players workout at local High School gyms. The reputational damage would make it more difficult to recruit players. What do we think it does to employee recruitment and retention in the nonprofit sector when the industry is defined by symbolic (and sometimes quite literal) vows of poverty? Great missions require great people and resources that allow them to perform at their best. Your soda money doesn't end up back on the field but it can pull money off of it if your badge of honor sacrafices conribute to employee turnover.

Something tells us that after yesterday's 13th Annual JLL Real Estate Charity Beach Volleyball Tournament (congrats to the winners!) and a demanding morning, your minds are already on the weekend 😎 And we don't blame you!—we were there too! That's why we recommend checking out more books from our library. This time, our CEO, Tom—one of the biggest bookaholics on our team—shares his picks 🔥. On the list https://lnkd.in/drXSmcWU , you'll find: 📖 one book he’s read 3 or more times, 📖 one book he’s read twice, 📖 one book he’s read once, 📖 and one book he likes to jump across. Because more is better, right? In the photo: the library at the Grupa Pracuj office (source: press materials). Nice, isn't it? 🙃 If you have a book nook set up at your place, share a photo in the comments.

Today, we celebrate the #InternationalDayofCharity: a day that commemorates the death of Mother Theresa and a reminder that generosity knows no bounds ✨ Honestly, though? Those donation jars at the checkout counter aren't inspiring, are they? On this occasion, let’s look at a more impactful way of fundraising… A silent auction 🤫 Often misunderstood as a gala-only affair, a #silentauction is a great way to infuse ANY gathering with anticipation and friendly competition—all while generating serious 💲💲💲 for your cause. Here's the lowdown: The concept 👉 Instead of a live auctioneer, guests silently place bids on bid sheets or through a mobile bidding platform. The bidding typically occurs over a set period; at the end, the highest bidder for each item wins. The magic 👉It's a friendly game of one-upmanship, where every bid raises the stakes and the excitement. Even better, this drives up the value of your donations. But it's not just about the money. Silent auctions are a team effort, even if you're bidding solo! Everyone's working together to reach a common goal creates a special kind of energy. They also allow you to creatively showcase your impact, telling your story through the items and experiences. From virtual campaigns to community gatherings, silent auctions can be tailored to fit any occasion. And with modern technology, managing them is almost effortless. On this International Day of Charity, why not ditch the donation jar and harness the power of the silent auction? 🌐 You can do so via
