🎤 Concert Mayhem: Are We Paying for Poor Event Management? 🎤 I generally don't write about these topics, but yesterday I had an interesting conversation with a close friend about the recent chaos at the Diljit Dosanjh concert in Delhi. It is just the latest example of a worrying trend in event management. Time and again, fans are left frustrated and disappointed, despite paying a premium for tickets. From poor crowd control and insufficient facilities to inadequate food and beverage services, the issues seem to be systemic. My friend who attended the concert shared horror stories of endless wait times, filthy washrooms, and a total lack of organization. Sadly, this isn't an isolated incident. For instance, the recent Arijit Singh concert in Mumbai faced similar criticism. Expensive tickets promised a premium experience, yet fans ended up battling overcrowded venues and poor acoustics. Even international events haven't been spared. The much-anticipated Justin Bieber concert was marred by long queues, miscommunication, and logistical nightmares. Fans who had traveled far and wide were left feeling cheated. It's high time event organizers take responsibility and address these issues. Fans deserve better for the money they invest. One intriguing cycle is the shifting popularity between summer and fall weddings. Limited venues often lead brides to opt for fall dates, creating a surge in fall weddings. The following year, this demand spills over into the summer months, creating a fascinating and cyclical dance. However, the most captivating trend on my radar is the move towards more intimate celebrations. We're seeing a shift from grand 200+ guest weddings to smaller gatherings of fewer than 100 people. I must say, I absolutely love the charm of these smaller weddings. As a vendor, it lightens the load, but more importantly, it creates an intimate atmosphere where couples can truly connect with their loved ones. These events feel more relaxed, genuine, and filled with happiness. As we navigate the changing landscape, it's clear that couples are prioritizing quality over quantity, opting for meaningful moments with those closest to their hearts. And I'm here for it! This is why Coldplay’s concert is a massive economic boost for Mumbai. Tickets were sold out in just 30 minutes, where 1.3 crore people tried to get one of the 1.5 lakh tickets. While Coldplay will make over Rs. 100 crores in ticket sales, these tickets are being sold for up to 12 lakh rupees on the black market. But what’s in it for India? Well, this concert will massively boost Mumbai’s tourism sector. The Navi Mumbai Marriott Hotel which usually goes for Rs. 15,000 is charging 1.4 lakh rupees per night during the concert. And big or small, all hotels are sold out. But it's not just hotels - 1.5 lakh high-ticket customers will come to Mumbai over 3 days, who will travel, eat, buy stuff and help local businesses. Coldplay’s concerts in Rome last year saw a spending of over 150 crore rupees, and India’s concerts will be twice as big. But that’s not all. It will boost India’s live events industry which is great for the economy.
