Each person can have influence by spreading kindness and understanding in their daily lives. For individuals leaving Messiah Lutheran’s church parking lot, embracing the idea of entering the mission field can inspire a commitment to service and compassion. For all my Senior friends from NorthJersey.com and the Greater Bergen County Community Actions - NJ program offers up to $15K in home renovations for vulnerable groups Healthy Homes program offers up to $15K in home renovations for vulnerable groups For those who find themselves struggling to afford the necessary home repairs and improvements to keep their environment safe, there's a new program that aims to help. Greater Bergen Community Action has launched its Healthy Homes program, an initiative that aims to remediate environmental hazards in 140 residential units throughout Bergen and Passaic counties. For each, the organization is offering up to $15,000 worth of essential home improvements — to address risks like mold, lead and structural deficiencies — to vulnerable income-eligible populations like seniors age 65 years and older, disabled individuals and families with young children. It is funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and Program Director Avery Headley said GBCA was one of just 20 organizations nationwide — and one of two in New Jersey — to receive the grant. https://lnkd.in/e2XMrhh7 https://lnkd.in/eVWB_HS4

We’ve accomplished a lot at First United Church Community Ministry Society but we know there is still more to do. We’re led by a vision where everybody’s worth is celebrated, and all people thrive. We’re guided by these principles to get there through dignity, belonging, and justice. When we say dignity, we’re talking about respect, basic needs and human rights. When we talk about belonging, we’re talking about creating safer spaces where everyone feels welcome and there’s no judgement and no stigma. When talking about justice, we’re talking about systemic change and breaking the cycles of poverty. That’s what we’re trying to accomplish, and we know we do not do this work alone. We can’t do this without you. Through your faithfulness, finances, time, and support, you’re helping guide us to get to these places. And we’re led with so much hope.
