Denver residents, have you ever noticed how the path to your destination is never a straight line? I came across a post from DIA today that got me thinking. Many of my customers travel internationally for business and pleasure, and their journeys are always intriguingly indirect. If your travels involve connecting flights rather than a direct route, be sure to weigh in on this survey! #Denver #Travel #Survey

Can we achieve the winning combo of efficient and comfortable travel that doesn’t cost the Earth? With the right directions from policymakers, a new era of European rail might be around the corner.

I got stuck in traffic for over an hour on I-35 Friday outside of San Antonio, and I'm angry that I've lived in this region on and off for over 30 years, and this traffic situation only worsens. In the late '80s, a high-speed rail between Austin-San Antonio-Houston and Dallas was suggested. However, it got shut down mainly because Southwest was a Texas-only regional airline that serviced those markets and lobbied against it. Well, that's no longer the case. Why can't we create a high-speed rail? Existing rail lines already exist but are owned privately. Let's invest in buying those lines and creating a Brightline between Austin and San Antonio to start and then add the other cities. That is what South Florida has done. We can do this. It will improve commercial trucking flow on I-35, alleviate congestion, improve environmental conditions, and generate billions of dollars in increased regional productivity. https://lnkd.in/gjEqXXky

Berlin to Paris in a night train? Sounds great. Funnily enough, I reckon it may mitigate DB’s time table issues. Somehow I can totally see that the night train passengers might be just a tad more lenient… Anyway - this sounds like a very good initiative, Earth is surely happy to hear this :-) #environmentalsustainability #envrionment #railway #railwaysolutions #carbonemissions

This time, I did not come by train. After 10 #noflying months, I took a plane from Rome to Brussels. The heavy snow in southern Germany meant my night train to Munich was no longer possible, let alone the subsequent DB connections (which are a challenge with any weather, let's be honest). With the Gottardo tunnel closed, the route through France was not an option. Work and personal commitments made it so that I couldn’t afford an overnight stay in Switzerland. It's very disappointing, though I’m still happy about my #sustainabletravel so far. This experience showed me we still have work to do to make #rail a mainstream alternative to air: - We need more and better connections, especially across borders. Easier said than done, but we could start by investing more in infrastructure, lowering costs for operators and supporting competition on important routes - When unexpected disruptions happen, it’s still hard to understand what to do, especially when more than one carrier is involved. With everything I know about my rights and train travel in general, I was still not sure what to do with my trip - Finding and booking tickets is still much harder than it needs to be! Trainline and many others are trying to make rail more accessible, but still face unnecessary obstacles. If only there was a planned EU legislative proposal that could help … 🤔 Not letting one hiccup stop me though! Today, the count towards a full #noflying year goes back to 0 - see you in 12 months! #TrainNotPlane #MDMS #shifttorail

Did you know that the people of Britain are most likely to choose to travel long-distance by train over car or plane than any other country in the world? The study, carried out by SavantaComes, found that 46% of Londoners prefer to travel long-distance by train, compared to 41% by car and just 10% via short haul flights. With these statistics in mind, it’s no wonder that the platform of a train station is one of the busiest areas on the UK’s rail network. Airside: It is that part of the airport terminal after passport control on departure and before passport control on arrival. Landside: It is that part of the airport terminal before passport control on departure and after passport control on arrival. Believe me it is highly important to understand these travel terminologies.
