In Wisconsin, nearly 40% of children have experienced abuse, neglect, and household dysfunction. These experiences impact their mental and physical health, often leading to lifelong challenges and a cycle of trauma. This summer, make an immediate difference in the lives of young people affected by trauma. ❤️ Together, we can create a brighter future. Your donation supports resources and programs to break the cycle of trauma. Donate now: https://heyor.ca/v6KuNI

Imagine what it's like growing up in a world where violence is a daily reality. For many people living in prison, the trauma of their childhood follows them into adulthood, haunting them even within the confines of prison walls. This is their reality—a cycle of pain and suffering that seems unbreakable. By sharing the perspectives of those with lived experience, we aim to shed light on the invisible struggles that many face daily. Understanding their pain is the first step towards creating meaningful change. Let's bring awareness to the long-lasting effects of childhood trauma and advocate for compassionate interventions. These are not just statistics; these are real people with real stories. Their voices matter, and together, we can help transform their pain into hope. Support our vision by making a small donation here donate.cpp1.org

Making new friends for life 🐴💕 OSIs, such as PTSD, affect both the person who has them and their loved ones. Can Praxis's Breaking the Cycle Family Program is an opportunity for children (ages 8-24) of veterans with an OSI to gain the tools to understand and respond to their parent's injury. This breaks the cycle that trauma can cause and leads to a healthier future for the whole family. Our monthly donors play a huge part in offering hope and recovery at no cost to participants. Right now, Can Praxis is participating in Make it Monthly, an initiative run by our main donation platform CanadaHelps. Until the end of March, CanadaHelps will contribute an additional $20 to each new monthly gift Can Praxis receives of $20 or more! If you're ready to double your impact on the lives of Canadian veterans, get started here: https://loom.ly/TlQZAkM Please note that this initiative only applies to new monthly donors. Donors who're already making monthly donations or who've made monthly donations to Can Praxis in the past are not eligible. #canpraxis #canadahelps #makeitmonthly #equinetherapy #strongertogether

*I know this is long, thank you for taking the time to read it* September is here and while timelines are full of pumpkin spice and hopes for cooler weather, it is also a time of change and transition. Dwindling daylight hours mark the beginnings of seasonal depression for many and the change from busy summer schedules to the quieter fall months can bring spikes in loneliness and isolation to those without strong support systems. It is for those who struggle that we bring awareness to Suicide Prevention Month and organizations such as To Write Love On Her Arms that provide resources to those who need them most. TWLOHA's mission is extremely personal and meaningful to me, and I share this in hopes of drawing attention to their cause. These are just a few ways to get involved and a couple of them don't cost a thing: 1) Take one of their virtual Suicide Prevention Trainings; these are $20 to join, take an hour and a half of your time, and the information covered may prove to be invaluable. Just like being able to perform CPR, this is a skill set that you hope to never need but can save lives if you are prepared. 2) Donate to the cause; I discovered this organization as a teenager and their resources have supported me in some of the hardest seasons of my life. I am only one of many who have found themselves in a situation where life felt too big, and support was scarce. It is because of the support of donors that so many of us have been able to access help and resources that otherwise would not have been available. 3) Stream for the cause; TWLOHA has a program for Twitch streamers to raise money for the organization and break down the stigma surrounding mental health by opening up the conversation. This is a great way to get involved doing something you'd already be doing, but for a cause, and they provide tons of resources to make your stream a success. 4) Purchase TWLOHA merch; if you're going to be sporting graphic tees/sweatshirts, they might as well have a message worth sharing. You never know who needs to read the words "Please Stay" or "You Are Enough" - do not underestimate the power you have to positively influence others, even passively. and finally, 5) BE KIND; You've heard it said that every person is fighting a battle you know nothing about - keep this in mind in your day-to-day life and meet others with empathy, kindness, and acceptance. Everyone has pain, everyone has insecurities, everyone has struggles, but not everyone has the same tools and resources to deal with them. When we lead with empathy and kindness, we create a space for others to feel accepted and safe. Community saves lives. Remember to check in on your friends - struggle looks different for everyone and sometimes just knowing someone cares enough to ask can be reason enough to stick around just a little bit longer. We all have the opportunity to create a better world, and it starts with being kind.
Please stay alive isn’t a sentiment that ends with those three words. It continues on into each day after we make that plea. It manifests by making this life one that has less suffering, and more support. It provides the kind of community that not only believes that better days are ahead, but wants to put in the work to make them possible for everyone. Suicide Prevention Month is here, and it means a lot to our crew the way that people show up and show out during this time. Our goal of $200,000 is not one we can manage alone, but it’s necessary for us to keep providing the help and hope that we’re known for. Please consider making a donation, even $5, in honor of the work we’re doing this month and all year round. You can donate right now at https://lnkd.in/e3mUhZwc Please stay alive, friends. You are not a burden.

Suicide Prevention Walk- in Honor of my Shaun Dear friends and family, This year, I will be participating in the Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention Walk, to honor the memory of my son, Shaun. I’ll be wearing white beads, symbolizing the loss of a child, a pain I live with every day. Shaun was brilliant, kind, and filled with potential, but like so many, he struggled with deep, unseen battles. Before he passed, he opened up to me about how I could have been a different parent—about the things I might have done to help ease his depression and prevent the darkness that overshadowed him from such a young age. His words left a profound impact on me, and I carry them with me as I walk. I’m walking not only to honor Shaun, but to share our story in hopes that it will help other parents and children who may be in a similar place. My goal is to raise awareness about childhood depression, to reflect on how we, as parents, can better support our children, and to ensure that no family has to endure the kind of loss we have. I humbly ask for your support—whether you can join me in the walk, sponsor my participation, or simply share our message. Your donation will help me continue sharing Shaun’s story, raising awareness, and contributing to the fight against suicide. My goal is to raise $50,000 If you would like to support, please visit my page here: Here is the link to use and share for donations. You can also register as a walker off this page. just click on Join Our Team. https://lnkd.in/g-vqrqpd Together, we can make a difference in memory of Shaun and so many others. Love you all!!! #OutOfTheDarkness #AFSP #StopSuicide #SuicidePrevention #MentalHealthAwareness #BeTheVoice #EndSuicide #HopeForTomorrow #ShareYourStory
