The Olympics opening ceremony is this Friday. The number of events has changed over the years, but there is still one particular aspect of the competition and its competitors that always intrigues me … the desire to win. The athletes are there to compete and WIN. No one with a chance of winning an Olympic gold medal simply goes just to compete. I can guarantee you, every single one of those athletes has the pure intention of winning. They train all their lives for this one shot at doing one thing … winning. All the endorsement money, accolades, national pride, etc. are procured through one thing … winning. I’ve always thought of sales in the same way when I envision success. I’m here to win.  To me, “winning” in sales is to own my territory. I want to be the “go-to” person for the entire territory for whatever it is I’m representing. I’ve carried this attitude of winning through 19 years, 3 different industries, and 4 different companies (one of which my own), and it has brought me much success. There is no money, company awards, fancy car, etc. if you don’t work hard enough to do the one thing that matters … win. What is your concept of “winning”?
