🌍🌾 Happy World Food Day! 🌾🌍 Today is World Food Day—a day dedicated to raising awareness about global hunger, food security, and the importance of sustainable agriculture. Millions of people around the world still face food insecurity, and it’s a reminder of how much more we can do to create a world where everyone has access to nutritious food. Here are 5 simple ways you can take action today to help fight hunger: 1. Donate to a Food Bank or Shelter 🥫: Local food banks are always in need of non-perishable goods like canned vegetables, beans, rice, pasta, and soups. Even a small donation can make a big difference for a family in need. 2. Volunteer Your Time ⏳: Spend a few hours volunteering at a local food bank, community kitchen, or shelter. Many places need help with sorting, packing, or distributing food. 3. Support Sustainable Farming 🌱: Choose to buy local and sustainable products. Supporting small farmers and eco-friendly practices can reduce food waste and ensure more efficient food systems. 4. Raise Awareness 📣: Use your social media to spread the word about hunger and food security. Share resources, facts, or even organize a virtual fundraiser for a hunger-fighting charity. Reduce Food Waste 🗑️: Plan your meals wisely and avoid wasting food. Get creative with leftovers and compost what you can’t eat. Less waste means more resources to feed others. Each step we take today brings us closer to a hunger-free world. Let's work together for a brighter, more equitable future! 🌍💚 #WorldFoodDay #Foodwastenomore

Something that I am incredibly passionate about - food waste. It always amazes me how much food is thrown away, when there are families in our own communities who are food scarce. Today is #WorldFoodDay - a time to remember the value of our food and to think of creative ways to reduce waste. Nearly 828 million people still go to bed hungry every night, while approximately 1/3 of all food produced globally is wasted. Reducing hunger and waste can start with simple actions: - Cut down food waste in households and businesses by planning meals, storing food properly, and repurposing leftovers. - Support sustainable farming and local producers to ensure long-term food security. - Donate excess food to local charities or food banks to help those in need. This picture was taken last weekend as our team of 6 at my church prepared food donated by Trader Joe's. Food that was going to be thrown away; and we used it to make meals to serve 150+ people in the devastated areas of Western NC. If we all work together, we can make a difference. #WorldFoodDay #ZeroHunger #Sustainability #FoodSecurity #FeedNC #DisasterRelief

Food waste isn’t just about the food—it’s the labor and energy that go into producing it. When food goes unused, all the effort behind it is wasted too, impacting both people and the planet. At Denver Food Rescue, we’re addressing this challenge by recovering surplus fresh food from grocery stores and retailers. Instead of letting it go uneaten, we distribute it through 21 community-led No Cost Grocery Programs (NCGPs), ensuring it nourishes our Denver neighbors and strengthens our community. 💚 This Colorado Gives Day, you can help us create a more sustainable and equitable food system. Donate today at https://lnkd.in/grnBY_2F and make a difference. #FoodWaste #FoodRecovery #Sustainability #EndFoodWaste #DenverFoodRescue #ZeroWaste #NutritionSecurity #FoodJustice #FoodAccessForAll #SustainableFuture #CommunityImpact #ClimateAction #SupportLocal #GivingTuesday #ColoradoGivesDay #DonateNow #FightFoodWaste #HealthyCommunities

Did you know that more than one-quarter of food produced is wasted globally each year? This has major social, environmental and economic consequences. It’s common for delegate numbers to fluctuate in the lead-up to an event and estimating food quantities can be tricky. At The CCD, we ensure that regular communication between clients and the hospitality manager about likely numbers can allow for adjustments in catering requirements. This helps to avoid producing unnecessary food and, in turn, reducing food waste. Other initiatives, such as donating food to local schools or charities are creative ways to manage waste after an event. Today, on Stop Food Waste Day, we want to highlight some tips and tricks you can easily implement in to your daily life to make small but significant changes in how we care for our food.
