Figma just dropped some interesting features! A lot of companies who use AI for design has been a bit meh so far in my opinion, so it will be interesting to see Figma's take on it! What are your thoughts on this? https://lnkd.in/e7wbtckz #ConFig24 #FigmaAI #Figa #AI

The Future of Design: AI's Role in Creativity Are we entering an era where AI becomes the co-pilot of design? Discover how Figma's 'First Draft' is reshaping the landscape of digital design. Figma's relaunch of its AI-powered design tool signals a pivotal moment in the creative industry. Initially met with controversy due to its uncanny ability to replicate existing designs, the feature has been refined and rebranded as 'First Draft'. This development raises intriguing questions about the future of design: → How will AI tools influence originality in design? → Can AI truly understand and replicate human creativity? → What are the ethical implications of AI-generated designs? As we navigate this new frontier, designers must adapt to a world where AI augments rather than replaces human creativity. The key lies in harnessing AI as a tool for inspiration and efficiency, while maintaining the unique human touch that defines great design. #AIinDesign #DesignEthics #CreativeProfessionals #JamieBykovBrett #BykovBrettEnterprises https://buff.ly/3N0Hm92

🚀 Figma UI 3: My Thoughts After Spending Quality Time with It! 🚀 It’s been a while since Figma unveiled its new UI 3, and as a designer who spends a lot of time crafting in this tool, I thought I’d share my take on the fresh updates: ✨ AI-Powered Content Replacement: This feature is an absolute game-changer! Trustworthy, time-saving, and efficient—it’s like having a reliable assistant by your side. 🎨 Prototype Creation with AI: While it’s helpful for quick, simple prototypes, it’s not quite there yet for complex designs. I still prefer creating my own prototypes because I don’t want to end up editing every part to match my style. 🖼️ Image Editing Magic: The “Remove Background” tool is a lifesaver! No more jumping between apps just to clear a background. I used to use some clever tricks to mask objects in Figma—now it’s just click, and done! 🖌️ Image Generation: Surprisingly good for scene creation! The AI suggests prompts, and if you blend them with your ideas, you get something pretty solid. It offers four variants, and while it excels in scenes, it does add its unique flavor to everything. 📏 Pro Tip for Quality Images: If you want high-quality results, always use bigger frames when generating images. This way, when you resize, the quality stays sharp and clear—no more pixelation issues! Overall, Figma UI 3 is a solid step forward, but there’s still some room for growth—especially in the prototyping department. Have you tried it yet? What’s your take? Let’s discuss! 💬👇 #FigmaUI3 #DesignTools #AIFeatures #Figma #UI3 #DesignInnovation #ProductivityBoost #DesignCommunity #UXDesign #UIDesign https://lnkd.in/dKaS3TM3

Figma got the approach to how AI should go to market right the second time, calling it “first draft”. I think that’s perfect. Although this scares me a lot, at the same time this opens up so much possibilities for someone who directs product designs. Improving the details through iterations of a design while using it and playing with it are so important that the idea of a first draft fits the context so perfectly. 👏🏻 Generative AI + Taste & human iteration 🚀

"A great challenge of life: Knowing enough to think you're doing it right, but not enough to know you're doing it wrong."
How is this a business model? Figma is a collaborative interface design tool - they launched an AI tool that is based on a suite of off-the-shelf systems that they do not own - I guess to create an AI-based output without having a human collaborator. Unlike finance, where we can have a fund of funds - a tool of tools based on other flawed tools is not useful because it is not diversification of portfolios we are after. And Figma is knowingly taking a shortcut. But if you don't really own the tool(s) that drives your tool - you might have an issue of accountability when there are too many bugs that you did not catch - beta or otherwise. So this is risky. I mean Adobe did not base itself on MS-Office to create something differentiated, right? Anyway, Figma is doing the move fast, break things ....

Must-watch for any Product/UX designer. A projection into how design processes will be improved thanks to AI. It is very interesting for me to watch the impact of the generative AI. When I studied Artificial Intelligence 10+ years ago, as students we were dreaming about assistants that would generate ideas for solutions as co-creators in any kind of design process. Now we are living this dream. I'm curios how the software will be designed by product teams, if we are moving in abstractions layers up, thanks to AI. https://lnkd.in/ewemkS-E

I’m glad that these tools are getting more suited to the work of making good layouts across a lot of screen types and end formats, like prototypes, code and slide decks. The new features are great. But, Figma still feels like a presentation driven tool and not a creation driven tool. It has a focus on building team spirit and communicating ideas, more than the history of our craft in refining designs or innovating on functionality. I worry about the history of design as a craft being ignored in favour of a more presentable and shareable experience. The current conformity and consistency across tech projects is not a good thing, it reflects a more conservative and timid design culture, and Figma is a big part of the lack of originality we see in web and app design. Having always been a big proponent of automation and innovation, collaboration and communication, I am excited to see such bold changes to the design workflows. But I do worry that these tools are intentionally displacing the more constructive and innovative aspects of craft and creation, two very human concepts that will far outlive any of these technologies and predate almost everything we know. These companies intentionally limit the potential of creation and craft by enticing an design language based on the automation of basic technicalities.
