New Technical Article out now! Backup power from solar PV inverters, even without batteries, is an increasingly popular feature that allows small, essential loads to stay powered during daylight grid outages via a single socket outlet. However, to ensure user safety, these circuits must comply with Australian Standard AS/NZS 3000:2018, specifically Clause 2.6.3, which requires residual current device (RCD) protection on all final subcircuits. This article explores the RCD requirements for these backup circuits, highlighting the importance of proper protection for compliance and safety. Read the full post here: https://lnkd.in/gjYMJDpi

CEO | Energy Auditor | Battery Solutions | Comprehensive energy solutions for PV power plants and C&I end-consumers from one hand
What is zero feed in? There are countries and regions, where feeding in PV generated electricity to the grid is not allowed above a certain power plant size. Why is it still economical to install such power plants for these consumers? - Because of self-consumption coverage. The most important issue with this rule is the "down-regulation loss". At times, when the PV could be generating electricity (due to high solar irradiation), but the consumer cannot consume it for its own purposes, the inverters start to down-regulate the PV panels. Because of this phenomenon, it is of paramount importance to perform the dimensioning of the PV system taking into account the consumption values - at least - on an hourly basis!
