Facilitating Leadership Future Intelligence | Neuroscience-Based Strategic Foresight & Innovation in an AI/Tech Driven Future
From a neuroscience perspective, the foundations of Future Thinking and Foresight are found in the hippocampus and basal ganglia. The hippocampus allows spatial navigation and memories (imaginary recall) and the basal ganglia promotes sensory-motor integration. As the neo-cortex develops, it might exadapt these more primitive functions to support future planning, event linking, episodic foresight, anticipation and feelings about the future. Although the human brain/body has the capacity for complex and long-term foresight, it would serve us well to understand why and how the more primitive functions can limit and support future thinking. And then utilize that understanding to develop neurophysiologically-aligned foresight processes and frameworks. One of the more robust frameworks that accounts for this is the Global Workspace, developed by Bernard Baars, as a model for exploring the science of consciousness. The model can also offer a systems based framework for exploring the neural correlates of future frames and for developing practical skills and tools for expanding the mental, emotional and embodied capacity for human foresight. An expanded human capacity for individual and collaborative foresight, integrated with AI/Tech based tools, can help leaders and organizations gain more clarity about emerging risks and opportunities. How can we ensure the ethical development of #neurotechnology to protect individuals' mental privacy, guard against unwanted personality changes, and prevent algorithmic biases? Hear from the incomparable Kiley Seymour both on the FAIR Stage and in the Neurotechnolgy Forum! See you at the FAIR!
🤩Speaker intro! A visionary shaping the ethical and scientific landscape of neuroscience and technology, Associate Professor Kiley Seymour, Ethics Chair for Experimental Psychology, University of Technology Sydney will bring immense knowledge and understanding of neurotechnology to the FAIR. 🤩🤩 Sound words from Kiley, “Technology has the potential to benefit society, but we must be mindful of its dangers and ensure that ethics are woven into its design from the outset.”👏🏻👏🏻 Kiley is an esteemed neuroscientist, recognized for her international expertise in ultra-high field brain imaging, brain decoding, and the intersection of neurolaw and technology. She was one of the first researchers to apply machine learning algorithms to human brain mapping, now a common method, to provide important insight into the neural basis of consciousness.⭐️ As an executive member of the Australian chapter of the Organization for Human Brain Mapping for UTS, she also advocates for a strong capacity in neuroscience in Australia and supports the next generation of outstanding researchers. 📣 New Blog Post Alert! ✨🧠 You can read our latest blog, Dancing With Algorithms, on our website, https://lnkd.in/dXc3jQ-e Exploring the intersection of arts and science for real-world impact is at the core of ARISA, and today, we will discuss the research that we have been conducting to fulfil this mission, particularly in the field of dance and AI! The research paper we wrote based on our research is currently in pre-print! You can access it here - https://lnkd.in/d_8fQkur ARISA's researchers and other collaborators conducted two experiments to explore the relationship between AI and human creativity and perception. The experiments focused on understanding how different cues to human animacy change our perception and appreciation of dance. Human animacy refers to our ability to attribute human-like qualities to others, whether human or nonhuman. The ultimate goal of these experiments was to gain a deeper understanding of how AI and human creativity intersect in the domain of dance. #ArtAndScience #Blog #Neuroscience #Aesthetics #Research #Neuroaesthetics #ARISAIndia #ARISAFoundation #ARISA #AestheticAlchemy #AI #Dance #AIDance

Neurotechnology is an emerging field that encompasses various technologies designed to understand, interact with, and manipulate the nervous system. As this field develops, it presents a range of opportunities and challenges, particularly for regions like Africa. This symposium will discuss the emerging issues facing stakeholders in Africa, particularly in the neuroscience ecosystem. As many international conversations led by UNESCO, OECD, and Council of Europe are seeking to proactively address our future with neurotechnology and its convergences with AI and other emerging technologies, it is imperative for Neuroscientists in Africa to engage with relevant emerging issues. Join this symposium to learn more about the concept of Neurotechnology, the Ethics and Governance of Neurotechnology and how to use Neurotechnologies for Research. Time: 3pm WAT Date: Thurs, 5th Sept, 2024 Meeting link https://lnkd.in/dCyhzN72
