What did we learn from the Air & Space Forces Association Warfighters in Action event with Lieutenant General Moore. We learned that the future year programming budget for the United States Air Force is looking at deploying a wide variety of massive capabilities (including the Sentinel missile, the T-7, a new tanker, and the NGAD) and if we want to win the next big fight - we need affordable mass to scale and deploy thousands of aircrafts. The United States Air Force is committed to investing in these programs; however, it can’t fund all of them at the same time and some programs are getting delayed. It’s critical for us that we incorporate the lessons learned from industry, such as Amazon, SpaceX and others, into the way we execute and budget if we want to deploy these capabilities in the next generation. "Data fighting" will be the most critical component of modern and future warfare. A secure, real-time data environment will continue to be paramount for decision superiority across the integrated battlespace. Especially as AI-enabled capabilities evolve and significantly contribute to mission success or failure. Thanks for sharing this Amanda MacKinnell MBA MAIPM.
Enabling accurate and timely decision-making by the warfighter in the increasingly complex battles pace, with capabilities ranging from #seabedtospace, President of Space and airborne Systems Edward Zoiss addressed the Williams Foundation lunch today. Ed focused in on the need to shift from dogfighting to data fighting, achieving electromagnetic spectrum superiority, smart technology and improved resilience of the systems that inform our actions. Also key to his address was the newly opened #centreofexcellence for L3Harris in Brisbane- delivering sovereign capability and Sustainment support to our customers. #L3Harris #Australiandefenceindustry #ew #technology #defence #aukus

#ICMYI United States Space Force's Position Navigation and Timing Provisional Delta officially redesignated as Mission Delta 31, the first integrated mission delta, which merges operational activities with sustainment capabilities, and integrates intelligence support directly to the unit. "This represents the change in warfighter mindset. We provide a critical capability called navigation warfare, where we deliver PNT through a contested environment and operate through almost any threat,” said Gen. David N. Miller Jr., commander of Space Operations Command. “Many people think it's just precision guided munitions. It is the timing signal associated with our coding schemes. It is the security upon which our baseline defenses depend. Many things depend on a signal from GPS, and all of it starts with Mission Delta 31.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/gdM-fzu7

Integrated mission deltas are a crucial next step in the evolution of the U.S. Space Force as they aim to streamline operations, enhance combat readiness, and improve the overall effectiveness of space operations. By consolidating functions such as intelligence, operations, and sustainment under a single command structure, integrated mission deltas promote more efficient decision-making and coordination. This approach is intended to optimize the use of space-based assets, reduce duplication of effort, and enable a faster, more agile response to threats in space.

Some highlights from this panel (paraphrased)... Ken Handleman: - We've gotten really good at cataloging what's in space. It's not just about cataloging but about characterizing. - Given that the pacing threat is in the Pacific, the distance makes it imperative that we do the (ISR) mission from space. Brett Scott: - NRO's focus is "No way to hide." Not just "nowhere," but "no way." (denial-and-deception techniques, etc.) - Need to shrink the window in which adversaries can move without us detecting them. Layered persistence. Tony Frazier: - The whole concept of interoperability is vital. If allies and partners have access to the same data, it helps with coordination and collaboration.
In a #GEOINT2024 panel moderated by Hon. Marcel Lettre of Lockheed Martin, Tony Frazier of LeoLabs, Ken Handelman of the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense, and Brett Scott of National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) discussed #space warfare and #GEOINT, and how to protect warfighters in the final frontier.

In an era where space has become a critical domain for global security, it’s concerning how few standards and norms exist to govern space operations. The absence of clear, universally accepted guidelines creates significant gaps that heighten the risk of misinterpretation and unintended escalation of conflict.
🇬🇧📡 UK plans to build radar network for Space Warfare defence “This is a big deal in the sense that we don’t have enough space domain awareness. There is a concern about increasing military activity and increasing belligerence in space. We need more eyes on the sky," said Dr Mark Hilborne. Read more 👇 https://lnkd.in/ev7QNEX5

#TBT | Shephard Media 𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗘𝗢𝗦' #𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 The growing importance of space in modern warfare, advancements in satellite technology, and increasing threats from rivals like China and Russia were among the topics of a Eurosatory 2024 panel on military space operations. Space is now the predominant military domain, as demonstrated by the role of capabilities such as STARLINK in the #Ukraine war. However, we are only at the beginning, with new opportunities in surveillance, navigation and communications – and a growing threat of conflict. The age of hypersonic weapons is here, threatening our way of life. To stay ahead of emerging risks, Space Systems President Kelle Wendling believes the space and defense communities need to go farther, faster. “The government and our industry must embrace tighter collaboration, faster decision-making and continual innovation to provide warfighters with new capabilities on timelines relevant to national defense.” Read more from Forbes: https://bit.ly/3UZd6z7
