The criteria for clearing an interview for junior/basic positions and the expectations of companies from fresh graduates is unclear. It seems that there's a disparity between what is taught in educational institutions in Pakistan and what is required in entry-level positions. For instance, graduates in accounting, finance, or business may not have the same level of knowledge as ACCA/CA graduates due to differences in curriculum and practical training requirements such as articleship. Additionally, the compensation offered for entry-level jobs often does not align with the skills and knowledge expected from candidates. I recently had an interview for an entry-level position at a small to medium-sized organization, and I was disappointed by the expectations set during the process. While I acknowledge that I lack knowledge in certain areas like double entries, it's disheartening to see that even colleagues at reputable firms like KPMG, who are ACCA/CA qualified, may not possess this knowledge initially and only acquire it through experience. The current system seems to demand a lot from fresh graduates, expecting proficiency in various software tools while offering salaries as low as 30k for a nine-hour job. There's a need for organizations to recognize that providing opportunities and allowing individuals to learn on the job can lead to better outcomes for both the employee and the employer.

As a CA trainee, I’ve learned the value of hard work, belief in Allah's plan, and dedication. I tried hard to get inducted into the top 10 firms in both Lahore and Karachi, using my references and struggling a lot, but Allah had another plan for me. Now, I’m in a QCR Lahore-based firm with a very good environment and average clients. Now I am focusing on my CA finals and learning a lot. It doesn't matter much if you start in a Big 4 firm or a small QCR firm; success comes from your commitment and effort. Hard work is key—there are no shortcuts. Every challenge is an opportunity to grow. Trust in Allah's wisdom and timing; every experience is part of a greater plan. Stay dedicated and strive for excellence in everything you do. We should try for the best, but if we can't achieve our desired position, we shouldn't feel sad or like a failure. Agree with the plans of the Almighty and focus on achieving the next big things.
